My first impression of all the new noises are almost all of them are annoying and bad save a couple - i like the new explosion noise.
To be fair, i always found the old sounds annoying enough to keep the game muted all the time, so the sound change won't impact me at all. Except the bow damage, FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF...
The arrows hitting the target is fine, but bows must certainly do not "pop" when releasing an arrow X(.
I do think that there needs to be different sounds for different types of damage. The new sound is okay for falling damage, but I think the old sound would be better for cactus and other types of damage.
I like the new chest sound, seems appropriate.
Endermen are a bit of a joke IMO.
I don't like the new "eating" sound. I don't know what it is, but it's not eating.
The experience bells are going to be annoying.
I really liked the deeper, fuller explosion sound. The new TNT sounds like you're at a shooting range firing guns.
Keep in mind this is all subjective opinion - but it seems a lot of people don't like many of the new sounds.
I have mixed feelings about the new sounds - there are a few that I like, but most of them I don't.

When all is said and done, Will you have said more than you have done?
I heard a new mob sound in RC2 that I had never heard before and could not identify deep in a dark underground cave. But I was safely behind a door with some gold and iron I did not want to lose (just started mining there), so I did not run out to see what it was (cave in that direction was still dark). It was a low gravelly repeating sound like "ruff" (rough). Zombies, skeletons and spiders in that area made their normal sounds and did not hear that from a creeper who ended up in lava, so I thought it might be a new enderman sound.
Wow. I dislike most of these sounds, but the falling damage and cactus ones seem alright. Still, some were particularly bad... the bow and fishing rod sound horrible.
I play Minecraft standing on the roof of my house with a laptop, completely naked, the wind lapping at my hair and genitals. It is very refreshing. The neighborhood watch loves me.
Okay, so two annoying bugs that I've noticed so far... You can't lay pressure plates on glowstone, which sucks, because now the front door to my mansion is rendered useless... Second, McPatcher won't patch my texture pack...
(second one isn't really a bug, just annoying.) -.-
We all hate the new sounds, but that's just because we got used to the old ones and take them as normal. There were probably debates about them when they were added.
I have a problem with the new sounds personally, we have "high quality" sounds with low quality blocks/texture packs. The sounds seem too "realistic" for the game in it's current look and feel in my opinion.

Yup, It is the enderman. It scared me the first time I heard it! :mellow.gif:
I like what they're going for, but I think some work still needs to be done.
Is it just me, or are a lot of the sounds kind of metallic (not sure if that's quite the right word for it). They definitely need a little more bass in my opinion, and I will miss the original damage sound.
Overall, I really do like the new sounds. The door and chest sounds will take a little bit to get used to but I'm just used to the old ones, I guess. I like that the new sound when you get hit is not the really manly sounding "uh" that it was. It just sounded ridiculous coming from my character, lol.
The only new sound that I don't really care for is the eating sound. It just doesn't really seem fit the action. I mean, I've never seen anyone eating anything that sounded very much like that. When I heard that there was a new noise for it I really hoped it would be 'omnomnomnomnomnomnom'. I would lol every time I ate if it was. The explosions sound just a bit weak too but it's not really a big deal.
The sound also seems a bit more balanced in volume. It always seemed to me that things like the door noise, the sound when you take damage, and the bow sound were much louder than they should be.

I dislike the endermen in general They look horrible flat black and dull. funny you say that toddlers I do think they are aiming to lower the age focus on minecraft less scarey
That is because, like, 70% of the Minecraft population is 10 year olds.
It's 1.9 npc's all over again, (new pet-peve = Minecraft Arrow sound)

95% of teens would scream if Justin Beiber was about to jump of the top of the Empire State Building. If you are in the 5% that would grab a seat and some popcorn and yell JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! post this into your signature.

...But that's just my opinion.

Overall, I would say I'm a little disappointed by this. I really wasn't getting a minecraft vibe from some of the sounds; they just felt out of place.
