I hate all the new sounds, probably because I have been playing since early Alpha. And they are really annoying. No more thwang of a bow, just a POP.
Also, this makes me think of other things, like the End. It's cool and all, but I feel like the game shouldn't end, even if you can still play. It's not as adventurey.
It's just that I feel like Notch is changing too much stuff that shouldn't be changed.
I kind of like the new sounds but there going to get annoing real fast :dry.gif:
That may be some of the problem with the new sounds. It's like the sounds were run through a reverb filter, followed by half a dozen other filters, possibly in an attempt to get something "atmospheric". Sounds that one will have to listen to over and over again shouldn't be grating on the ears. There's a reason simple, clean sound effects work so well in video games.
The new sounds are **** tastic and too all the new players that like the new sounds can screw off. It should be up to the older players to decide and being one i say the old sounds are way better.
The rock effect sucks after tnt, the bow and fishing rod sound the same and sound like they are the wimpiest things ever. And the doors are really frickin annying.
What if we've been playing since Alpha 1.3_01 and like the sounds..

I personally love the door sound. While it sounds better with the chest, I like it a lot more than the incredibly loud sound we had before; now it's actually more subtle.
The bow sound...meh. I like that it's more subtle and quiet, meaning that skeletons will be an even better threat, but it just sounds funny. It doesn't sound "twang"-y like a bow; it sounds like popcorn popping.
The explosion sound is just ridiculous. Before it was loud and powerful, and sounded threatening. Now...it just sounds weak.
Personally I'd love to know how all the sound files started activating without my Minecraft actually updating. It's slightly terrifying. oO

I love the new mob sounds. The silverfish have "step" sounds, so whenever they move it'll be a slithering sound. Imagine lots of them doing that, it'll just be disturbing!
If they change the Endermen sounds to what shows up in the "newsound" folder...Endermen are going to be friggin' terrifying. It doesn't seem like they've changed their sound; skeletons haven't changed for me, either.

I love the new sounds..
Especialy the explosions.. it really shows what explosions are like: a huge compression of air, provoking a expansion wave destroying everything around... and the falling debris is just perfect..
I really hope Notch doesnt change them back... i love new stuff...
I was never too crazy about the old door sounds, but at least the new ones aren't so loud, that was really annoying. The fishing rod doesn't really sound like a fishing rod (never did), and since the same sound is used for throwing eggs and snowballs, not very unique. The fishing rod should make that click-zzzzzz sound of the reel letting the line out.
Be nice when the rest of the mob sounds are put in, I see a couple wolf howls now, and the lava gloop and pop sounds have been there for ages and not implemented.

To tell them how to live is to prevent them living.
Old. Yes, maybe I'm too used to the old sounds, but all of the new sounds honestly sound much lower quality and a lot more dull than the old ones (maybe not the door sounds, but I still like the original more).
Perhaps I am just too used to the old ones, though, considering that I've been playing this game for over a year, heh
If the sounds are permanent though, it won't be long before someone makes a mod that allows you to change them without them changing back by themselves.
There's a Sound Mod Enabler that allows one to do just this, heh. Since I maintain the Indev code patches for MCNostalgia I'll probably end up porting SME to Indev too, heh.
EDIT: Gave the explosion a try ingame... I don't really think there's enough kick to it honestly.

So there are new Endermen sounds, but they still play the Zombie sounds in 1.8?
How ****ing lazy can you get, Mojang? Just edit a few lines of code so they'll play their own sounds, and while you're at it, fix them in SMP for god's sake.

...
You have to update the code to make them play the new sounds. You can't just magically deploy new sounds and expect the endermen to use them because the endermen are hardwired to use the zombie sounds

That's why I said "Change a few lines of code to make them play their own sounds". Are you having trouble reading?

İf i did this my instincts would make me look at every enderman around me...while in the end
"insert enderman pic here"

In fact all new sounds are of really bad quality.
