First of all, I don't really like the idea of potions. It is kinda changing the face of the old minecraft (not in a good way). Also i heard something about alot more dungeons in desert, if this is true it will make it too easy to gain rewards. The final thing i don't like is the NPC's. Number one, they are kinda wierd looking, and number two, I just think minecraft should be like alone there. If anything i would say there should be a ratio of the villages with/without NPC's.
This is just my opinions though. You guys might have other different ones.
Potions and enchanting remind me of crafting in MMOs, some people really get into it and three cheers for them, but I found it repetitive and boring. The end product might be useful, but getting there is kinda meh.
Dungeons and villages are optional, you can turn them off before you create the world. Since potions are craftable, you don't HAVE to use them, thus making them optional.

Well i knew that dungeons and villages were optional, but with potions, i was thinking like an option disabling them.
You are wrong. If you don't craft strength potions and defense potions and speed potions in PVP when others do, you will probably die because they'll have advantages over you.
Yeah, thats what i was thinking because i am going to port forward a server, i have set up, soon.

Huge problem with this idea is that everyone will want the ability to turn on/off an item. Eventually, Notch will need to add this:
Option to disable/enable Creepers
Option to disable/enable Endermen
Option to disable/enable Dragons
Option to disable/enable The End
Option to disable/enable Tall Grass
Option to disable/enable Pigs/pork
Option to disable/enable Villages
Option to disable/enable Strongholds
Option to disable/enable Potions
Option to disable/enable Diamonds
Option to disable/enable Coal
Option to disable/enable Lava
Option to disable/enable TNT
Option to disable/enable Flying
Option to disable/enable Double-wide chests
Option to disable/enable Damage all together.
It gets very messy, so it's far easier to just not use what you do not like.

Fantastic thing about 1.9 is that this has to be a pretty non-invasive update.
Don't like potions? Don't make them.
Don't like Enchantments? Never make a table.
Hate dragons? Don't go to The End.
Easy fix: Don't PVP, or PVP on a 1.8 server only.

Have you noticed the fact that most everything you just put in there were things that would make the games easier when you disable, but what i'm talking is stuff that don't really change the difficulty and/or make it harder. (ex. Not as many dungeons in desert)
I honestly don't believe you are thinking. Feels more like you are looking for reasons to complain.
Oh really, so now your gonna accuse me of not making a server i made. That server took a lot of work, Gee thanks for saying it's fake because of all that work i went through on making it. I just havn't port forwarded because my dad is concerned on security.

Not using potions might put you at a disadvantage but you still dont have to use them. Therefore still optional.
Same here but different reasons. I'm fine with potions and i'm fine with NPCs. I don't really like they way they look though. I'm not too exited about dragons either if they are anything like what i have seen so far. I just don't want to be forced into anything. The hunger meter was something I didn't really want at first but it isn't so bad. Leveling sounds good.

Everybody has a gripe with something. It doesn't matter if it would make the game "easier" or "harder", there are always people that want the option to "remove" it. This would require Notch to add an option to add/remove anything in the game.

To each their own.
They are optional?
It gets a result.

If you are against something so much I would hope you have enough self control not to do said act.

Your still not getting the point. :sleep.gif:
