It's ok, I am use to it. I have been around minecraft for 2 years now. I got really excited about the Halloween update last year in Oct. and was greatly disappointed that it was never quite finished even a month after Oct. 31, the actual release date. Notch promises one thing and delivers something completely different.
The same thing is going on now with 1.8 update. There was a ton of features promised that never made it. Now a couple of months later he moved a ton of those features to 1.9 such as NPC and animal breading.
I would probably feel better about the way Notch does things if he would have an official news post on the website, but all we get is twitter, or is personal blog. Frankly I don't care about his personal life as much as I care about playing minecraft. Is anyone really going to pay money to go to minecon? Who cares really?
So yeah when all these "new features" are coming to 1.9, I am not excited at all. Some of these things were suppose to already be added.

You do know that Ntch has repeatedly stated again and again that 1.8 "adventure update" was too large for a single patch right? That adding so many features at once would have resulted in 1) almost no time for players to test the new features so that he and Jeb could get community feedback on functionality to tweak various bits for balancing and 2) there would be no time to do bug testing with the release of Minecraft just around the corner and shoving every single change to the game from the 1.8 pre-release to the current 1.9 pre-release would be be a nightmare to try and figure out what exactly was cussing a bug. By a game development point of view, breaking this update into parts was the only sane thing to do.
I don't understand what your complaint is. It is not like Notch went "1.8 is the Adventure Update, and ONLY 1.8" Hes stated that 1.8, 1.9 and if need be, 1.10 (though with just releasing revisions of that is making no need for 1.10) are ALL the adventure update. Your complaint doesn't exist the adventure update hasn't been abandoned and Notch talks very little about his personal life on his twitter besides stating that he he is going home or just woke up or re tweeting something game related to his interest.
I seriously do not understand what you are crying about.
Also, we all knew this was going to happen. At least it isn't a Duke Nukem Forever fiasco. It could have taken (what seems like) forever to come out and then you play it to find that it's terrible.

I honestly don't care about going to Minecon, although I probably could. I'll be in the hospital anyways, detoxing from a Skyrim OD.

"I don't have facts to back this up", but why does Notch promise an adventure update and then later break it up into multiple parts? I mean that is how I saw it, I could be wrong. The only place I can go to find this information was on this forum, where one of the forum members donated his/her time to fill us all in with great technical detail I might add, about what was to be in 1.8 and what wasn't to be.
I just wish there was a little more concern for the fans of minecraft coming from mojang. They wouldn't be anything without mods and community backing them up. Notch never once posted any kind of information himself about what was going to be in 1.8 - 1.9 because he constantly changes it.
Things change. 1.8 was the Adventure Update, sure. But he never said 1.9 or 1.10 wouldn't be Adventure Update parts 2 and 3. And then he did say they would be parts 2 and 3. We were told, it's not like he lied to us.

He said there'd be an Adventure update, and that'd it's be broken into parts.
I don't think he lied at all. As it stands, it is WIP. And, honestly, would you rather him give us an official, buggy, halfassed version of it?
It's better to take your time and get it right; after all, he has to please millions of people. If a modder messes up, nobody give 2 craps. If Mojang messes up, the whole gaming world falls apart.

It's hard waiting around for something that you know might never happen; but it's even harder to give up when you know it's everything you ever wanted.

But that is the thing, Notch has decided to use the medium of Twitter and to a lesser extent his tumblr blog to relay information on changes he is working with. I do not understand this thinking of him not being concerned with the user base and not being tranparent with his design choices just because he uses a medium of communication that you have decided not to access because you believe it is mostly filled with his personal life. The ratio of his tweets are about 98% minecraft news, 2% news on him. Both his and Jeb's twitter our their work twitters, it allows them to quickly answer questions (which they do all day long, "little concern" for the community? Are you kidding me? Just because Notch doesn't post on these forums doesn't mean he has little concern) and release information to the public in a way that allows him to not have to move away from coding, he can send the tweets via his phone.
I used to think the same thing, that his twitter was useless, but then I began to actually pay attention to it and the majority of the information that is gathered here you can learn about a week in advanced from his twitter. It is why the login screen for minecraft have links to everyone at Mojang's twitter accounts.
Heck, you can go to his tumblr page right now (http://notch.tumblr.com/) and the top post written on October 11th confirms that 1.9 is part of the adventure update and confirms to follow progress on the update to follow himself and Jeb on Twitter. The adventure update was NEVER promised to be a single patch and was pretty obvious would be a serious of patches just because of the size of the list of new features. The Adventure Update meant that they were going to begin adding elements of an adventure game to minecraft.

That is another thing that bugs me. Every server I have been on has had to erase the entire maps to get the new biome code. So everytime a new patch is made the worlds get destroyed. Not only that but as servers update the mods for the server don't get updated as fast so it lets griefers get in and trash things up until the server can get new mods installed to handle them.
It is just a mess. Like you say he should test things but then release it as a finished product. So far Mojang has never added testing and quality control to their deadlines on releasing a product. Would be nice, but not gonna happen I guess.

Thats because youre hosting servers in a BETA. You are saying you want all the content released at the same time, but that defeats the entire PURPOSE of a beta.

Do you not understand what a beta is? That this is the process for ALL betas, things in the code change, old worlds (or saves in other games) become unusable, characters in betas for MMOs get erased constantly.. There is a large group of people who play the Minecraft Beta and don't seem to understand the process, you are not playing the Beta to play Minecraft, you are playing the Beta to PLAY TEST it, that is how this works, you are given Beta access, you acknowledge that you will be given an unfinished buggy product. Why? So that you can give feedback and report bugs so that Notch and Jeb don't have to spend ages doing the play testing themselves, but can instead work on new content while keeping a list of bugs to fix (major ones get to quicker, smaller ones are being left for times like the period between Oct 18th-Nov 18th where all they will be doing is fixing bugs and working on optimization).
The game is being developed like EVERY game that has a beta opt in. You get into the beta for play testing, but there is always that small group who wants into beta because they want to PLAY NOW NOT LATER and those are always the people who get angry when major changes come along that alter how the game works.
Is it just me, or is OP just trying really hard to find an excuse to be angry at Notch and Mojang in general?

I hate all these people just asking for more...
Notch NEVER EVERRRR Promised ANYTHING!
He has never said
I PROMISE! To put all of the adventure update into 1.8 all at once!
But , besides if you don't care , why bother ranting? Sounds to me like your a hater. :l
People are always asking for more and more when Notch and Jeb and Mojang are working their asses off. They devoted almost half of their lives to work for this game , and you guys go on a ranting spree on the forums that wouldn't EXIST
if Notch didn't invent this game , asking for more. Don't you guys see it? There's already SO MUCH! From Dirt blocks to new realms! They try their best , and you guys almost show no appreciation. Its really disappointing to see this coming from MineCraft Fans. *sigh*
You should probably get more comfortable with change. It is just a game after all. Updates are happening. The deadline for release might or might not be extended.
It's really not that big of a deal. I'm having a good time with the pre-release content.
There was a ton of features promised that never made it.
Notch likes to speculate and free associate about future possibilities, and his fans like to take his words much more seriously than he does. Just try to learn from the recent past; if you think you see Notch "promising" things for 1.9 or 1.10 or 11/18/11, take a moment to realize that what you've seen is an incomplete snapshot of his evolving thought process at one moment in time, not a conventional committed feature list.
A good rule of thumb is to trust a programmer more when they talk about the past and less when they talk about the future. If Notch or Jeb say they've finished something, then it's probably a good bet that you'll see it soon. If they say they're working on something, or planning or designing something, then that something does not yet exist at all, and it may well never exist.

Like
