I've seen a lot of people asking what was the best way to get higher tier spell.
Must of the time people just surround the table with bookcase, but that can become a problem if you want lower tier spell. I came up with a solution that's not too complex in order to change the level really fast.
This is my first video including voice, I'm French (Qc) so my accent is pretty strong :biggrin.gif:
Hope you guys enjoy it.
watch in 1080p :wink.gif:
Little modification I made, adding bookcase in the corner increase the average level and the max too.
if you place bookshelves in the corner, you can get even higher then that.
:ohmy.gif: I was unaware of that. I read somewhere u needed the face to be in contact.
I added an annotation, still make me sad that my machine is not perfect :sad.gif:
i can hear you are french ( yes i did read your message).. but atleast you try realy hard to speak proper english.. not like most other french people (no offense =D)great vid.the piston trick is pretty nice.never thaught of it :smile.gif:
Hahaha thanks. Was it still good, I know i tend to forget my "s" like in the bookcase"s" ^^

just add another row to each wall so that you can have it set up to be what you need. part of any contraption is iteration, with improvements along the way.
Thanks for the tip, I think I'll do the same room in my world if you don't mind. *-*Btw, I'm french too and I'd love to be as good as you and have a nice accent like yours. :tongue.gif:
This is an interesting contraption. I might build one of these later on (once I get enough slime balls) at the top of a wizard tower or something, 'ya know?
The Minecraft community in general isn't about "respecting and caring" either. It largely consists of narcissistic children who disregard those other than themselves and like to spout anger, abuse, troll and flame. It is also why any competent multiplayer builder either owns a private server or one where build allowance requires in-depth vetting. If Minecraft was about "respecting and caring" these measures would clearly not be necessary.
That is a really cool creation. However you have 12 bookcases worth of overkill.
This x2 is all you need to reach max of 50.
I don't think so. I just tested out the layout with additional bookcase i was unaware were having effect and you could clearly see the difference in level. I'm even going to post a video about the detail i miss.
So after making a similar one. I'm curious on if a switch for each one is even needed, meaning dropping down to 2 switches instead of 4. Is there really going to be much difference doing 0, 2, or 4 sides compared to 0-4?

I replied on your youtube vid my findings using 24 and 36. I saw no difference between the two. I could be wrong, but having 12 extra bookcases should have you seeing 40-50 a lot more commonly than once every 30-40 resets.
Also, I read in an early thread when _4 was released that the stand doesn't see anything below it. I'd find that thread, but I'm lazy :sad.gif:

Well ya the cost of the extra lever are small and you may need 15 or so more redstone, but it allow u to get better option.
approx* (just by the look of it)
none: 1-6
1 row: 15
2 rows: 30
3 rows: 35-40
4 rows: 40-47+ (seen 47, but pretty sure u can get higher by wasting time lol)

darn... i think your right, no way i'm i making a 3th video. seem like the bottom row is useless.
(seem, but will still put it to be safe lol)
Below table doesn't count. It only sees itself and one space above itself. And yeah, corners count, bookcases just seem to not block the "corners". That's how people managed to get level 50 enchants.

And does it matter if the bookcases are obscured or not?
like mention by an other user, placing bookcases in the corner will increase the level of spell. So making rows of 4by3 would be better.
Thanks a lot really happy to hear that XD

Yea was curious about that. Thought doing it only 2 high was all you needed.
Even still nice design. Might have to try and make one as well.
