Ok, So I was trying to make a cake. I misclicked the crafting bench with one of my milk buckets, and it made the same animation as eating , but without the "Food Sparks" coming out, like potions. And, like drinking a potion, the Container became a reegular bucket. I also noticed you can drink regular water. Since the only purpose with Milk thus so far is cake, Do you think Notch is strongly hinting a Thirst bar, or being able to put milk into Glass Bottles to make as a base potion?
Milk cures poison, but I don't know what water does. So yeah, maybe thirst, I don't know. Thirst increases faster than hunger, but it takes way more time to create a Bucket, than killing some animals and eat their raw meat or cooking and eating it.
So I think, if Notch adds thirst, he should also add something like a wood bucket, which only can contain water, lava would destroy the wood bucket and unleash it directly at you. Dunno how 'bout potions though.
I guess so. But there are already some form of wood buckets. (Bowls). Maybe we can OP mushroom stew and make it cure both hunger and thirst? Also, in the 1.9 Pre-Realease(Not trying to be rude), There are glass bottles fairly easy to make. But yeah, I see why you'd have your Idea.

It's called a Bowl. :wink.gif: EDIT: Beat ...
I was actually thinking of this earlier today. I think it would be a good way to add to the realism of Minecraft. Maybe it could deplete faster in Desert Biomes?

Like the existing Bowl?
I don't think thirst is necessarily a good idea. There's a point where fiddly survival stuff becomes annoying, and in this case it's when water is very common (so it's not a challenge element) but you still have to keep it and food.
What if water could be used to curb hunger, instead? Like... since it's so common, it doesn't recover hunger. But it acts as though you did, so you get that hunger grace period?

Make note: I generally avoid being insulting. If I sound insulting, I'm probably joking.

Yes, water is very common, but I feel you are saying the oceans. Since when do people DRINK out of oceans? If you could drink water, my guess is Notch would add a pond/river biome with drinkable water.

I might be iron, but I make your picks to mine diamonds.
But there's the possibility, that this biome is not appearing near you, which would result in dying through thirst. I think that all water, except ocean, should be drinkable. (Water sources in caves, lakes, water appearing on the ground, etc.)
Well, since you can get milk...
Edit: Oh wait read your post too fast. That is what I meant, all water is drinkable except for oceans, although why would you want to drink swamp water...?

Considering the unmitigated maelstrom of rage that spewed forth from this very forum once Notch actually did add the Hunger Bar, I doubt that adding a Thirst bar would be all that nice. Besides what would be the benefit of keeping it full? You don't die? Oh great, one more thing I have to do every five minutes to not die.
The Hunger Bar, the complex and wrathful opinions of others notwithstanding, has a place in Minecraft. It balances sprinting, and provides a more interesting healing mechanic which can be built on with instant heal potions. What the heck would a thirst bar provide. Nothing of interest. Notch wouldn't put a mechanic that serves no purpose into the game, even if he occasionally drops a pointless item into it without knowing what it will do (slimeballs).

Slimeballs make sticky pistons, and in the 1.9 pre-release 2-3 make Magma Cream for potions. Every item in minecraft has atleast ONE use.

He means that when slimeballs were added, they had no use.
When he added Ender Pearls, they had no use either...
Now look at what they're going to do.
