Are mushroom biomes only on islands? the guy who posted the new biomes from the jar listed it as a mushroom island biome, and all the screenshots I've seen have been on islands. If that is the case, it seems like an effort to make oceanic exploration pay off. It also makes them into fantastical islands instead of random patches of mushroom biomes in the middle of normal land.

Yes, I Have been playing for the past twenty minutes now.
Things to note:
-Snow biomes are back
-Apparently oceans can be 8000 blocks wide although it may be a glitch.
Seriously, since leaving the snow I haven't hit a single landmass (or at least none big enough to make a living on)
I found an ocean at least 10km (10,000 blocks) across in 1.8pre on a throwaway world seed. After an hour of flying over it and reaching 10k there was still no end in sight, so it might well have been much larger. I think this is probably pretty common now.
Here is some more info about each new biome (wt.class):
Mushroom Island: Warm biome. Frequent Rain. Somewhat Mountainous. Land base level near sea level.
Mushroom Island Shore: Warm biome. Frequent Rain. Flat land. Land base far below sea level (same as ocean.
Thus, Mushroom Island biomes actually spawn in the middle of Mushroom Island Shore biomes. However, the land for Shore biomes is underwater, which makes them appear like Oceans.
The top block for these biomes is the "mycel" block I mentioned earlier (which is not town related after all, but does play some kind of melody). No monsters, animals, or squids spawn in these biomes EXCEPT for mushroom cows.
------
New Cold Biomes
Frozen Ocean: Cold biome. Occasional Rain. Somewhat Mountainous. Land base level far below sea level. No animals spawn in this biome.
Frozen River: Cold biome. Occasional Rain. Flat land. Land base level somewhat below sea level. No animals spawn in this biome.
Ice Plains: Same as Plains, except cold temperature.
Ice Mountains: Same as Extreme Hills, except cold temperature.
Note: Can you edit my earlier info about blocks to state that the "mycel" block is the mushroom-biome's "grass" block. It still plays some kind of melody when the player steps on it.
EDIT: I also checked the animal coding. Apparently there is not yet animal breeding.
Armor values are now determined differently. I just loaded up on some leather armor, but my armor bar isn't even half way full. Tells me Jeb got that armor reevaluation through into the game.

You are not alone, seems to be rare.
This has been a feature for awhile.
Also will be testing different foods for animals to see if anything happens, cross your fingers!
Edit: double ninja'd :biggrin.gif:
Multiple skins for NPCs confirmed.
Also worth mention; NPCs are 100% passive, and will not attack you back. They drop nothing.

Nothing worked, which was to be expected I guess.
Definitely a good change, what with Snow Golems leaving their trails. Snow Blocks still remain, right?
