Yeah no confirmation date. MC Monday show said I think possibly this week....so that's just me speculating. I get internet on the 12th! Finally haha. Though its fun going to a coffee shop.
Is it me or is Minecraft becoming too "fantasy like" now? I don't really like it. I know I don't have to update, but it just seems like it's not Minecraft anymore.

Unfortunately, in order to get the required enderpearls and blaze rods, the freeform sandbox gameplay has degenerated into a blaze/enderman hunt.
Essentially, I have set up a portal near a blaze generator in the nether, so I have a base of operations to run back to when the blazes inevitably burn me... and I stay up all night outside fighting off mobs in the hope than an enderman shows up for me to kill.
Not sure that this is the gameplay direction minecraft should be going down.
I think there a still a few gaps in the gameplay.
Additionally, what is the point of the minecart? I can use it for travel, sure... but I can't load it with ore and send it up to the surface, can I? So far I'm just using it like a glorified train system, and even then it's not that great compared to just running. Plus it's expensive to build a railway in terms of resources. Perhaps if building the railway was a quest with a reward or something....
I just go to a blaze spawner, build a box around it and stay in there. When the blazes appear i just run over to them and beat the crap out of them with a diamond sword b4 they burn me.
I remember someone using minecarts as transportation of materials in another server, I'm not too sure though.
The whole combat aspect of minecraft is getting so much better. I love going to the nether and fighting off hordes of pitman for xp. I just wish that you would get more xp from monsters.
If you could get more xp from monsters and have random drops that are enchanted items... I'd be so happy :biggrin.gif:
I'm trying to reach "The end" in survival mode.Unfortunately, in order to get the required enderpearls and blaze rods, the freeform sandbox gameplay has degenerated into a blaze/enderman hunt. Your attempts to get to The End are seriously messed up if you have such problems. Why not build a saferoom so you don't have to fight for your life all night? As far as minecarts go, you can send them from ground level to the base of your mine and up again. It involves lots of booster rail, but that's why it's there. If you build a storage minecart it would hold all your ores. It is expensive to build, but with the addition of abandoned mines and iron more prevalent it isn't to expensive. Honestly it's like you haven't really played with rails and minecarts.
Actually, I kind of have to agree with the first person. The End is obscenely hard to get to. When it is said that they are fighting every night, it's not for lack of house- they just need Ender Eyes to find a stronghold in the first place, or to enter the portal. But, since killing the ender dragon will mean 'beating' the game, it's understandable. If you want a good seed with an easy portal, just check my youtube channel (006ruler).
Notch has actually talked about his mine cart system rather often, and how it needs to be fixed. So it'll hopefully come out better in the final version. Yes, it's hard to send carts up, but if you use enough powered rails it can be done.
Minecraft isnt even a sandbox game anymore. its turning into an rpg and i dont like that. what notch should do with the world type is make a world type thing from the past or something like it was right before 1.8 like 1.7.3 and another world type from 1.8 and stuff like that. some people probably would like to play the old minecraft. and also i want my old worlds like 1.7.3 so it would also be cool if u can edit your worlds.

In what way is it less of a sandbox? RPG and sandbox are not mutaually exclusive(in fact, I think they are highly compatible), and more RPG elements does not remove sandbox elements. So, what is making minecraft less of a sandbox?

Needing a saferoom to go hunting every night isn't the problem.... the problem is the fact that I have to go hunting every night. THAT is repetitive. Same with hunting blazes. In fact the hunting thing isn't very fun... nor does it use the gameplay elements available to us. If we have to go hunting, why not craft traps and bait for endermen (or other mobs) to step into? We can dig holes (we have pickaxes!) and cover them with shrubs? (we have those too)
To me it seems obvious.
As for the minecarts... so far I'm using them as trains to link villages together. I'm not really using them to send all my ore to the surface. It just seems easier for me to climb all the way out again. Booster rails aren't really a problem. I just feel that the minecarts be a more central aspect of the whole mining experience.
If you don't think I've messed around with minecarts enough, then I guess how I'm supposed to use them isn't made obvious enough in the game (without me referring to the wiki)
If I had ONE request, it would be that the minecarts hurt and knock mobs back that get in their way when they are moving. It SUCKS to be travelling on a minecart only for a creeper to get in the way, stop the cart, *just* be out of reach of my sword, and explode before I have a chance to get out of the minecart to kill him.

You sound like a crack addict... you really need to go to the end that bad? You said something about endermen? You stay up killing mobs waiting for endermen? Me I scan the horizon from my open-top base. If there is an enderman and I look at it, it teleports to me, I kill it from my wall. I have 17 ender pearls just from doing that. As far as blazes? enchant some armor to get the "protection" or "fire protection" enchantments, and use an enchanted diamond sword. that way you don't need to worry about getting killed every time you fight them.

Honestly, I agree with you on this one. Unless you've got a ton of gold, there is no reliable way to make a decent rail system. And even still it doesn't go that fast. and the mobs. And the fact that notch was seriously lazy with cart physics... if your cart is going full speed and your cart goes off the rail it loses all momentum. :dry.gif:

I've run the math. As long as you are harvesting iron at the gold level, you should get more than enough gold to power any rail system you could construct with the iron that you mine. This seems to hold up in practice, since I've made kilometer's of tracks, and once I got past the first few batches and long-term probabilities trends became rel event, I've always had plenty of gold to use. And that was before zombie pigmen dropped gold nuggets.
Basically, by the time you have a ton of iron to make the rail system, you should have a ton of gold to power it.
Though I do agree, the cart system could be vastly improved.

I find wayy more Iron than gold. and I like zombie pigmen, they don't attack me so I don't attack them. That and they keep Ghasts from spawning, right? Wait, how exactly did Ghast's spawning change? that is on topic :smile.gif:

Yes, you find a lot more iron than gold, but you need very little gold to keep a minetrack powered at max speed.

I just made an ender eye and found most of the ender pearls I needed at the strong hold to finish building the gate :biggrin.gif:
