You can finally have a point of going to the nether and it looks like a small town/castle!
Hopefully this will add more point to going into the nether!
Same shape, yes, but I don't think they are fences. I mean, they could be... I don't quite know what you're saying! Do you think they're fences, or are you just noting similar appearance?

Similar shape. The texture looks the same as the netherrack brick... Would be kinda nice having a second kind of fence.
The Nether has been extremely useful for almost an entire year now for fast travel, which is what it was designed for. Hopefully the addition of bridges and roads will help some players get a clue. The Nether isn't really a destination; it's like a freeway or railroad to get you to your destination on the surface much faster. It was never supposed to be a hospitable environment.
It would be nice if those blocks resist ghast fireballs.

Exactly.
This is also why I've kept my world for a very, very long time.
It's easy to just go to the nether, walk 250 blocks and enjoy the new features, I've got a base from early alpha still simply because I have "Alpha 1.2 base", "Beta 1.6/1.7 base", etc stations on a minecart track in the Nether, originally I had powered minecarts (As I never really liked the booster glitch) for moving between them, but I'm switching it to the powered rails now.

Do not get attached to your saves, seriously, stuff like this has happened before, if there's something you love and really want to build...Wait for release.

I think they really are fences. Not to jump to conclusions, but what if the supposed nether brick is really wood made from trees in the nether?

Comment your ideas and suggestions, thanks!
Is it just me or is there some kind of new items (black dots) in the top left?
Edit: Clearly, I meant too thin. Sorry!
Reminds me of the Fire Temple from Ocarina of Time
They appear to be the same shape as fences.

I second that. I also love the Gothic style architecture they have going on here.

Maybe it's Darkstone/Blackstone, placing them will produce dark fog around them. Sort of like an aura of darkness lol.
May the force be without you.
Still the nether needs to be inhospitable. The one thing it really needs are special nether-only plants
