Hello, I have created this topic to ask questions about a mod I have gotten called GLSL Shaders. I have been using the Chocopic13 shaders for a long time, but I have been getting quite a bit of lag. I've seen videos of people that can play Minecraft with these shaders with BARELY ANY LAG! And I need some help. Do you need a better computer to use GLSL Shaders? I have a new computer I got about a month ago and it has a 6 GB RAM. Or can I change settings on Minecraft to create less lag? Any answers will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I want to have these shaders, but they lag the heck out of me!
Anyway, Making minecraft allocate more memory will make it alittle faster... You will have to get a better computer if you want to run it. Try lower graphics and a small window it should decrease the FPS lag

Wow, really is the wrong section! Sorry, I'm new so...
Thanks for the help! I do notice making Minecraft smaller reduces lag. So thanks for the help!
By the way, I have changed EVERY SINGLE setting lower, and you are right, WAY LESS LAG. Thanks so much!

No problem
Doesn't hurt to play in a small window with less fancy graphics... If you want the fancy graphics you will need a new computer though :/ My computer doesn't go well with shaders either, well as long as no lens flare and less animations are in the shader pack I would be fine making my graphics abit fancy but I will need to play in a smaller window still

Yeah, but it IS kinda annoying ensmalling the Minecraft window all the time. But still, thanks for the help! I really think it's just my computer.

€1000 is not good enough for Minecraft? Damn you Mojang
Uh, if it's prebuilt and from best buy, that's why. I did custom build my PC with an I5-4670k, Radeon 7970, and Corsair Vengence. All the parts combined, I paid about $900-$1000. My case(MSI Blitz) has a bronze certified 650Watt PSU, so not bad. I really doubt I'll be doing crossfire-x or any thing else so 650 will be good enough. Now, your amount is in euro, so about 1.3k$! Now that's an amazing budget for me to get a gold ceritified PSU and a different case(along with other upgrades), but I like mine as it is.
Edit: If you've seen the 7970, it doesn't lag with shaders.
Well I personaly think that it is not minicraft but is the not well made shader mod. I run minecraft at about 120 FTP and when I put shaders the FPS drop at about 25. So yeah I hope they make better shaderpack now with the new 1.7 with the shader inplemation.
Minecraft without shaders is more dependent on the CPU because it doesn't take much to run 16x16 textures. Shaders mod is heavily CPU dependant. Meaning, you have to have both a decent CPU and GPU(I said DECENT) to run shaders. This may be why people think it owns everyone's pc. My APU(A8-5500) has about 40-70 FPS, but drops to 10-30 FPS with shaders.
Concerning your 1.7 shader implemation, I have heard that even though they are shaders, they are not complex enough to do GLSL?(Possibly a rumor). I don't expect huge FPS improvements even though it has shaders, because
1. You most likely need the GLSL mod for advanced effects
2. Updates bring down performance by an amount depending on the content added (This VARIES, some updates DO NOTHING, some IMPROVE, and some DON'T.)
3. Sonic Ether Made his shaders bring my 10 FPS to a 14-30 depending on the GLSL shader mod. He can't go that farther.
Now, GPUS like GTX 560 ti and above can usually run shaders in butter smoothness. The only problem here is that GLSL uses real time shadows, unlike other games, so this makes shaders mod as complex as other games, especially with features like bump/specular mapping, with bloom, and other future effects(volumetric clouds). Also, I highly doubt shaders work on consoles, as their hardware isn't all great.
When you click on the "shader" in the options look at the following: hand depth, RenderResMul, ShadowResMul. Try messing around with the values to get stable framerate. The lower you put the values, the worse the game looks but the faster it will be. The higher, the better it looks but is slower. Turning on VSYNC also helps lock the frames at 30 fps.
Right now I have Sonic Ether shader enabled along with resource packs. This is what the shader at max values looks like:

so the only way to fix it is buying a new 1?
