Recently I began hosting both classic and SMP servers (on seperate ports) from an extra computer I had lying around for myself, friends, and also publicly. All the connections work except for in the Classic server.
The classic server is/was running publicly, and people have been playing on it, which is great. However, I prefer to play from a different computer my same home network, and I haven't been able to connect without disabling the verify-names feature in server.properties. However, I do not want to have to give up the verification just to be ablt to play on my own server. I am able to connect from the server computer though, just not from any other computer on the same network. I've tried many combinations of IPs and the external URL, and even connecting through a proxy (but the it wouldn't load java).
I don't have any expertice in computer stuff but that sounds like you did something wrong.

I've tried that, and that doesn't work. I know for a fact that my problem is currently an issue with Minecraft, as many other people have been experiencing it. I'm looking to see if anyone else has gotten around it.
I was able to find this on the Server Guide from Minepedia
"If someone in the same network wants to connect to your server, that person will have to use the same link (http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=12 ... port=25565), but change the IP address to the hosts local IP address."
That doesn't work though, and no one else has mentioned that it works.
I tried all this and I thought it would work, but it still doesn't connect. To test what IP the servers were getting I made a server, and connected to it through a proxy. I checked server log, and it showed my real ip not the proxy ip...

Anyone have any ideas?
