Lol, Children of Bodom? I'd consider them more "nu metal" than power metal or melodic death metal, but that's what they're labeled as.
I love power metal, though.
Blind Guardian, Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody of Fire, Axxis, Edguy, Gamma Ray, Hammerfall, Avantasia, Stratovarius, Demons & Wizards (Blind Guardian + Iced Earth together basically, but that was a time long ago ;__:wink.gif:, and then there's lots of new power metal bands. Haven't listened to many though. Aina is a great collaboration of superstars in metal. :tongue.gif:
Oh oh oh, Manowar is nice, not EXACTLY "power metal", but still amazing. Folk Metal - Korpiklaani, Finntroll (some, only went through like a trillion vocalists, all whom make their music sound horrible to me), there's a Spanish band called Haggard, I think it is? I think they're Spanish, used to listen all the time, Lumsk is a nice band. Turisas is a great ****ing band, I'd consider 'em power metal in a way, but they consider themselves battle metal. :tongue.gif:

What is your reasoning behind that?
My favorite band is Dragonforce. I think they might be the best band ever. They're obviously the fastest guitarists ever, Jimi Hendrix wouldn't last a second against them.
...
Sorry, couldn't resist.
I prefer stuff on the neoclassical side, stuff like Stratovarius and Symphony X's last album. I don't know if Ensiferum or Equilibrium can be classified as power metal, but if so, then them. I don't normally listen though, it's just a little too cheesy for me. But if I wanna hear epic vocals, then, yeah.

Okay, I'll let them be death metal, but I'll never call them "melodic" because they're sure as HELL not melodic. They play like some shitty startup metalcore band with two eighteen year old guitarists and a shitty vocalist. (All of this rules them out as being power metal, anyone calling them power metal should be hit in the face with a shovel)
I suppose they're not so much "nu metal" but, meh, garbage is garbage, eh? :tongue.gif: Death metal, nu metal, :biggrin.gif: all the same crap to my ears. Well, okay, at least with nu metal you can hear vocals and enjoy for longer than an hour.

No, just no. They suck.
I just had to say that. If you want to hear a fast guitarist:
