We have an older server we're going public with. Our little group of friends start playing and using this server about a year ago, and as of 1.8.1 we decided to reset the map and go public.
The server is feature loaded and takes minecraft to a whole new level with a very unique set of mods like Spout, Economy, level requirements, residential mods (for property protection), and much more.
With the set of pluins and mods we have chosen, we need a really wide (big) range of players to give it a test shot, let us know what you think and a full critique. You can play offline (if Minecraft.net is down) so everyone has to /register when they login for the first time.
Here is the server info, but please read below for more server details and rules.
WEBSITE: http://www.mctradecraft.com/
SERVER IP: play.mctradecraft.com (default port) (if this changes it will update on our site)
SERVER STATS (Lag Free unless we're rendering maps):
OS: Windows
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1100T BE
RAM: 16GB 1600Mhz
WAN: 10Mbpsx10Mbps (plenty of bandwidth for 50+ players)
(We know, its not Linux and plan to change this soonish(TM))
Our mission statement is simple, "We aim to provide the best possible MineCraft multiplayer experience through fair game-play, structured environments, and player driven ecosystems". What does this mean? Admins and Mods play with players, but they cannot (and will not) perform any action which may be considered in single-player as a cheat other than what the server allows for with any user. We will not summon items, players, or "give" away money. We believe that the player-driven ecosystem is very delicate and can be easily broken with admin micromanagement and modifications, thus we (the admins) generally only intervene in cases where a player is in a death loop, or dies because of an obvious bug. Other than that, admins help develop and ensure players are following the RULES.
We ask for one thing for using our servers: Let us know how you like it! If we do not know you're dissatisfied, we can never get better! Let us know how we are doing!
The Rules
1. We can deal with a lot of stuff, by maliciously hacking our server or connected clients warrants a no-warning perma-ban.
2. Using client mods that gives you more "privilege" or admin powers will also grant you a no-warning perma-ban.
3. Harassing, flaming, threatening, or being hateful toward any player will result in a warning or ban depending on severity. This applies to admins and moderators as well. We're all volunteer, and not paid to put up with childishness or to babysit.
4. Greifing is not allowed. Though we have safeguards against griefing, use common sense, placing lava/water on a hill next to a protected area to have it flow in and drown or burn down someone's property results in a warning or ban.
5. We have ways of letting folks lock their own chests, however using this system to grief others or taking items that just aren't yours can also get you banned.
6. No begging. Do not ask moderators or admins for special treatment (5 hour ban per incident). Asking if you should have something (or what it takes to acquire status or an item) is different and not considered an offense).
7. Do not impersonate a mod or admin. (perma-ban offense)
8. Do not use our servers (or website) to conduct any illicit activities.
There are more rules, they can be read by typing /rules when logging in.
Thanks again for your interest and attention!
EDIT:
Server is now running on a dedicated 100Mbps X 100Mbps connection on a dedicated server out of Florida by HiVelocity.
Common Ping Times:
New York: 28ms (Time Warner Cable)
North Carolina: 22ms (Time Warner Cable)
California: 42ms (Charter Communications)
Hawaii: 51ms (SearchLight)
Alaska: 48ms (unknown)
Frankfurt, DE: 72ms (DE T-Comm)
Dublin, IE: 70ms (unknown)
Yesterday we brought down the servers in order to move the server from a 10x10 network setting to a 100x100 network. We also have DNS'ed the IP address now so you will not ever have to look for it again (we'll update the dns settings if it ever changes in the future).
Oh, and the server now runs on CentOS (Yay!!!!) which was the culprit of most of the downtime. Some of the plugins we had running just either were not compatible with a linux structure or something in the file transfer just didn't go as planned. At any rate, Essentials had to be completely removed from the plugins list and we had to replace its features with an array of other plugins.
SCREW YOU i couldnt move i couldnt do anything no whitelist my ass SCREW YOU ALL TO HELL :angry.gif: :angry.gif: :angry.gif: :angry.gif: :angry.gif: :angry.gif: "blow your face up mumble grumble"

Just to ensure everything is out in the open. We gave a VDS a shot for hosting our server instead of my little 10x10mbps connection. The deal sounded very enticing, "capable of running 200 concurrent minecraft logins" is what the provider boasted on a VPS, with a 100mbps unmetered connection.
After we migrated all the minecraft data to the new server we did give it a test shot with 2 players online and I simply didn't like the load. After testing a bit more people wanted "on" the new server so we shut the old one down and went live with the new one. That was my mistake. After having approximately 10 people online the vps was overloaded. I then called a friend that use to work for RedHat to login to the server and check it out, to see if it was something I did wrong or something the server was lacking.
My friend confirmed that the issues weren't stemming from my lack of knowledge of Linux or Java and it was indeed the unadvertised CPU speeds allocated to the VPS of only 333Mhz (this wouldn't even run Android).
So we made the big decision to go full-on dedicated. We're now hosted by HiVelocity, on a 8i Intel machine with a 100Mbps DEDICATED connection (it is not shared with anyone else!) Though there was some downtime, everyone on the server that I have talked to have said it seems to have been well worth it with 20ms ping times and lightning fast terrain downloads.
Myself and my co-Admin has taken the burden of the server's bill, however if any players on the server want to help out, just let us know, and we're happily give you a donate link.
I did want to wait until the server was up and stable to come here and make the official "it is up" speech, so there you have it, it is up, it is stable, and has been running stable now for the past 2 days with zero downtime.

rage much lol
Not sure what is up with that. I realize it is late and all, but I would expect some attention to the rules before "moving out" lol.
