How long have you been playing?: The server or minecraft? Server: not long, only a few weeks. Minecraft: back when creative was all there was.
Before MineScape, did you primarily play on build servers?:Yup. I love building more than any other part of the game.
Post some pictures or videos (Or links to them) of your previous creations (Required): http://jerrycoe.imgur.com/all/ (all I had on my hd at the moment, sorry...)
What scale of building project are you ready to do? (Will you be ready to build cities as large as Bale on your own?): Ready and willing.
What's your favorite style of building:Roman/medieval
Can you have at least 3 server players vouch for you? Who are they? (We WILL check): Redforest, Enfourvie, Zaven995
Edit: now I feel silly after seeing Enfourvie's pic...
All good except...the link your your pictures are not "Publicly available" :/
^ ^ XD Well I probably shouldn't worry about this sprint thing. Minecraft is TODAY or TOMORROW! Meaning bugs go bye bye. Also I keep trying it and it doesn't work for me and yes you can move with it, just not hit someone. (Tutorial does this then runs for water and does it again :L.)
Proposal Concerning the Land Outside the Entrance to Bale
As of late a somewhat unfortunate situation has arisen concerning the area just outside the entrance to Bale, a result of the disparate plot ownership by Vali, Masyaf, and my own Ipswich whose main town has land in most of the contiguous area.
My own oversight allowed this, as I did not realize that Outpost plots had no distance restriction at all - allowing outposts to be claimed right next to, or even in the middle of, another town's area. But in any case:
The area is quickly moving toward a situation of being 1) crowded, 2) aesthetically unappealing, and 3) confusing and unhelpful to new players.
- - - - -
Now.. I believe that Ipswich has well established itself being strictly neutral, making absolutely no official or unofficial treaties, alliances, etc., nor declaring enemies even when certain groups or towns have taken it upon themselves to attack. I've dedicated it to being an open and welcoming town, unwalled and permitting all visitors, encouraging commerce, etc. I have plans for meeting/party halls and a grand arena for future open, public events and so on. I'll also note that the town is privately (and well) funded, and already at the level of residents required for the highest allotment of plots.
The point of mentioning this, which most regular players are probably already familiar with, is to make it clear that I have no particular partisan agenda for the area in question - I merely want the area to look nice and be useful to the server population in general.
The Proposal
I would like this area to be fairly open - with no massively tall constructions in particular, more or less architecturally harmonious, and easy to navigate with clear roads and signs. At the town/nation meeting there was idle speculation about a rail system. I would actually like to build that - this general area outside of Bale would be the ideal location for it. I.. well, frankly doubt that anyone else is going to build it.
I think this would serve everyone's interests; new players coming out of Bale would not only be greeted by an attractive area, but would have easy and safe transportation to all towns (who wanted that). This would allow new players to tour various towns before choosing one to join - currently a rarity. Further, it would promote server-wide commerce. Ipswich, Caern, and Totenstein have already set up some fairly easy Nether transport, which is proving immensely beneficial. I'd like to see that on an even bigger scale.
The Problem
The Vali and Masyaf outposts.. well, I'm not entirely sure what they are intended to be used for - but presumably the primary benefit will be to those respective towns privately. Though I'm not really sure what effective use there would be. I'm happy to build a Waypoint hub for people who can use Runecraft.
The primary concern, aside from aesthetics, is that these outposts will be used as 'noob traps' intended to boost residency levels. Aside from the fact that I think this use.. unfitting for an area so close to Bale, I'm not sure how effective it could be. New players won't be able to use teleports anyway, so an 'Embassy' in their face is not going to aid them in actually travelling to these towns.
Solutions?
I've made considerably generous offers to buy these plots from both towns, but the response in both cases has been "No, I will not give up this outpost for any offer no matter what."
It is my hope that perhaps, considering what I have said here, the residents/mayors of these towns may change their minds so we can work out some kind of sale agreement.
I did think about proposing some sort of cooperative venture, but ultimately had to rule it out. It tends to be far, far more difficult to accomplish these things when multiple parties are involved. (Notice how everyone was so excited about the rail system during the town/nation meeting, and then nothing at all happened?) But more importantly, I think it would be too dangerous to have disparate ownership of a transportation system when some of the owners are not strictly neutral - then you end up with potentially competing owners who can shut down or disrupt the entire system.
These two outposts aren't the only possible location for such a hub, I suppose - though they are right against the Bale road, under which would be the obvious location for eastbound rails. But I'm much less inclined to put the effort into building that kind of a system if I'm going to have to put up with.. whatever may happen to arise on these embassy plots.
So.. please do reconsider about the outposts. I think you'd like what I hope to build in the area.
Proposal Concerning the Land Outside the Entrance to Bale
Lol ok ok ok...
1. I do aim to have this outpost benefit my town but not in any way that it will deprive other towns of anything.
2. I am all for the rail system but first I have a list of things that I have to do and the nomads have forced me to shift my attention to defense.
3. I do not aim to have my outpost serve as a noob-trap, I have said lots of times that I prefer to take in only good fighters and/or builders... so a noob-trap wouldn't serve my purpose...
4. No I am not going to sell those plots... never...
Hope that clears some stuff up drz and also, I would be glad to have my outpost fit in with your ehh plans.
The outpost thing is a problem. I was visiting VALI the other day when Nomad attacked it. Apparently they set up a tower just outside of town, across a river. From there they made a link of chunks and stopped right in front of the main entrance of VALI, claiming it and quickly constructing another crude tower for defense. Cyrus19 countered by claiming all of the land around the tower.
Basically they had a war over unclaimed land out of war instead of claimed land while at war. In the grand scheme of things, this doesn't matter, but it sucks because they disrupted the flow of an entire city. VALI basically -has- to move their entrance over a chunk.
---
I agree that something has to be done about the entrance into Bale. It was incredibly generous for you to try and buy them out as admin, but anyone could see they won't sale. They feel like they have a monopoly of choice land in the game and they are right. I do not blame them for wanting to keep it, but things need to change. You can world edit to move their structures for them if they want to keep them, but I say play the Admin Card and do what has to be done. It's one of the reasons as to why we gets posts like this:
It is a tad confusing starting out. Luckily for me I had a friend who was patient enough to teach me everything, give me the wiki and post links over TS, guide me directly to his town, and help me get started. I never had to read the signs at spawn thanks to him. But I could easily tell how difficult it would have been compared to most servers. I am willing to bet there isn't even a sign explaining why they have to run out so far. This extra confusion from town outposts right outside of spawn has probably caused a number of people to leave the server before figuring out why it is so awesome.

I have to differ with you here. A few weeks ago, I set out to build an outpost near bale...I was very perturbed to find that Ipswich has monopolized most of the land near bale, effectively grabbing prime control of the economy and first rights to new members coming online. I was equally annoyed that the road which my members and I had been using to reach Caernarvon via Ralston was removed (I agree it's a hideous road but then everything within about a certain radius from Bale is very post-apocalyptic wasteland anyway).
Personally I would like a 1-4 plots or so to build a trade outpost/waystation to Caernarvon within a reasonable distance from Bale. Currently that's not happening. The best I can do is a path through the nether to the unmarked nether gate located in ipswich. Would be nice if we had a few more options...
I have to tell you, until that moment, I had no use for the war system. If there was a way, I would form a nation and do my best to grab about 4 undeveloped plots. ;D

As I mentioned, I'm at the highest plot allotment already, so I really don't need or want to monopolize new members. (Right now I'm trying to put more time into building, so not soliciting new members at all actually). So I'm happy to send them your way :smile.gif:
I/we can work on a road to Caern - the one through Ralstan wasn't the most direct of routes, and I don't think it even connected did it? And I think I could do some kind of Western rail transit route - the Vali/Masyaf outposts aren't so much of an obstacle for that. At some point I was thinking even of making some 'embassy' type offices in Ipswich.
I do apologize from grabbing all the land - I only did it after seeing that Vali/Masyaf had made those outposts. I'd unfortunately assumed that, as there is for town home plots, there was a minimum distance requirement for outposts. When I realized there was not.. I saw that I pretty much needed to get the land to protect it from every random town grabbing outposts and building big ugly crap nearly on top of Bale. You've seen some of the towns on the server, you know what I mean :wink.gif: It wasn't about monopolizing it so much as protecting it as best I could.
Drz first Vali's outpost won't look like a prison (Masyafs) And WILL host railways near Vali. Also the outpost in our wanted land area....as long as we can take it back I'm fine, of we can't retake it....I'm not. Also ATM PVP and classes are weird due to glitches bugs etc. So I think we should all have a temporary treaty, as PVP is erm weird. Mostly to use these bugs unfinished balanced classes etc really seem to only help our enemies. (Zaven and tutorial lol) Also I agree with Drz land around Bale should be welcoming not a Masyaf prison XD. We should come with a agreement on how a structure looks, if it isn't inviting pwn it if it is keep it.

All I really want is enough room to build a small embassy & trade outpost, you've seen the construction style I use here, it wouldn't look much different from the inn on the corner in Caernarvon, same style and scale. Might want to include a nether portal linked up to the network.
If you could however, connect your city road to the nether portal and put up a roadsign stating the names of those cities who are currently connected up in the nether, that would be helpful.

As far as the train thing goes, you guys...
I don't mind knocking down an old tower in Bale, and having North/South and East/West railways leaving Bale from the center hub. I need another building project.
I can start today, and you guys just have to connect it down into Bale (I'll build the stations up and out from Bale's influence so people can connect them).

What about a 'train station?' A series of labeled tracks that go from a main hub to each city that requests it that is of X size/population so not every two man town is demanding a track. There's a plugin that allows you to ride a track starting at full speed by stand on it, facing the way you want to go, and typing /minecart. That way you don't have to supply carts to newbies.
If you aren't up for the whole track length, you could build out to the wild and then have that town take over from there.
