Please read in its entirety. I tried to send this via PM however your system does not allow me to send to more than five recipients. I also would not have sent this publicly however since we were not given notice or warning before we were attacked by your mod, I figured it was fitting to throw this without notice in front of the public.
First off please don't immediately stereo-type me as one of THOSE guys who comes on and trolls and throws a fit about everything. You will see that I have been a member here for several months and this is the first time I have found something big enough that warrants this form of action. I have been a mod for a while now, as well as 12 years in the military with civilian experience in business, marketing, and economics. So . . .
I will start by saying that I am one of the senior members of Super-Earth, one of MineCrafts largest servers, which is also involved in some of MineCraft's recent and upcoming advertisements.
Now onto the issue - today our mods started receiving bans from "PirateBay" one of your newer mods. He started -modsnipping- different links but more importantly our branding. Specifically Modsnipping the name "SuperEarth" from the majority of our threads, negatively affecting our server. They have also banned a good number of our mods which inhibits our ability to whitelist and regulate our server. **Also just to note this is not as bad as what happened to BattleCraft which had their whole thread locked for the same reason** (Unless there is more to that story that I don't know about.)
**You can verify this by going to: "look at the top"**
Now I do understand *what* he started this rage for. It was for placing a link to incoming players to our downgrader to 1.3. Now seriously Im confused. You allow thousands of people to post links to their modifications to the game, you allow people to change the colors, the sounds, the objects, the basic rules and the basic coding. But to downgrade to an old (by only 3 days) version of MC it is bannable. Especially to ban only withing minutes of posting on the forums that it was illegal, without any warning what-so-ever. Im not trying to step on your shoes I just want to know why.
Furthermore, if we were changing the coding of the game and charging people it would be one thing. However because the majority of the servers out there cannot function until the plugins update they are forced to either shut down or make temporary solutions (downgraders). Now lets put this in perspective:
The players pay minecraft to play the game. Minecraft does not host any public servers for THEIR PAYING players to play on. Thus it takes servers like us to entertain THEIR paying customers. Now in order to do so we make a simple downgrader so that MINECRAFTS players are not forced to sit idle until all aspects are caught up. So essentially WE are providing a SERVICE for minecraft to assist minecraft in keeping players active. How is this a bad thing.
If I need to go on please do but I also want to say that we have tried to contact ?CentricSquid? on irc.esper.net but the link is not working for me. (I might be doing it wrong.)
Can I please get this explained to me . . . . I seriously do not understand why you would want to stop players from being able to play.
