lulz. One time i was mining and I saw 2 creepers. I wanted to run deep in my mine, but i was curious. They were hopping in all directions, but then one charged at me. I ran as fast as i could down my mine and then i was hit with a HUGE blast. luckily, i lived.
Unluckily, the blast broke a rock above me spilling gravel on me and i got stuck and died =( I was too scared to go after my stuff so I ran back to my house (nothing more than a furnace and workbench in a field) and waited out the night. next day as a creeper walked by my house i sprang a trap which i carefully planned (5 sand above a wood, which i broke) and the sand fell on the creeper. unfortunately he lived.
Those darn skeletons. I had build a stone building which my tower would soon be standing on. I didn't leave any lights inside, so when I came up to it at night, one of them had spawned inside and caught me by surprise. Following that I died about 10 times just not paying attention to things like: how high I was, if those creepers were getting too close, etc.
The first time I died, I must have spawned on the other side of the map because it took me a day and a half (in-game time) to find my base. The following times I spawned close-by, so I was able to recover all of my gear and elements.
Well the first time I died was thanks to lava xD I was still pretty new and decided I wanted to find some lava/build an underground cave, so I dug straight down, I think you can guess what happened after digging straight down for a while xD Yeah I fell into a huge lava pit and because there wasn't a ledge I could get onto I got roasted xD
Another funny encounter happened when I was digging out a drowning trap, all the digging was pretty much done by the time this happened and I was ready to place the water blocks and put it into operation. After putting down a few blocks I was stupid enough to fall into my own trap, no biggy I thought, I'll just break the glass and get out again, sadly it was night and a skeleton fell into the trap behind me so I was stuck in the water with a skeleton shooting at me xD luckily the trap was a stone throw away from my spawn so I rushed down there to get my gear back, not the smartest thing to do but I had plenty of valuables with me that I didn't want to lose. After dying a few more times a spider actually spawned in front of my spawn point, so I now had a spider attacking me and a skeleton somewhere in a trap with all my precious gear.
Luckily the spider eventually wandered off a bit and left me enough room to finish off the skeleton (which I killed by getting my gear and rushing for one of my ladders to recover some health and then going back down with my sword ready this time xD) the lesson I learned, be very careful when digging traps and make sure enemies can't get to you while you're working on it xD (btw the trap was dug in the side of a huge mountain, so the reason I kept dying was because there simply wasn't any cover in the tight hallways xD)
First game ever was a creeper. I didn't know what they heck it was until it asploded on me.
In my current game, the first thing that killed me was my own stupidity. I wanted a mountain home and ran up to the top. I built a little wooden "Ranger Station" to have a good view of my surroundings. I started to dig down to create a mineshaft to look for more coal and fell through a ledge and fell to my doom. I built my new base on the next mountain over and I have yet to travel back to my first home.
