MOD EDIT: These are all good suggestions but this thread is what we call a "wishlist", a thread that doesn't cover a specific subject or idea. If you want more feedback on your ideas, feel free to split the thread up into relevant suggestions. For example special redstone items could go in one, furniture could go in another.
And then feel free to expand on the specific subject of those threads further. More technical redstone things, more furniture items. And so on.
Hope you understand. Thread moved to wishlists.
I've only been playing for a little over a week, but I've already found I'm wanting to craft things that don't exist. Here are a few ideas.
Fuse (Circuitry)
I have a door that is locked by 5 levers. It only opens when they are all in the correct position. Then I thought, "what if I can disable the door completely if a wrong lever is pulled?" Hello, fuses! This would work very simply. You can run wires to the fuse. Up to 3 fuses can stack in a single block. When the number of LIVE wires exceeds the number of fuses the fuse blows (disappears) and the circuit is broken. Now the door will never open until someone replaces the fuse and completes the circuit again.
This gives a real use for glass while crafting. Also, the iron required to craft the fuse make it a little more expensive. I also considered using iron for all 3 slots on the left and right. Not all safety measures are cheap, ya know! It is intended to resemble a tube fuse with glass on the outside (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Electrical_Fuse_%28aka%29.jpg).
Timer (Circuitry)
Sometimes you want your electronics to last a tad longer before turning off (doors closing in your face and not letting you leave). If you add the timer in-line with your wire, it will force the charge to remain in that state for the designated time. To adjust the time, simply hit it (like doors). An indicator for the time could be lights on the block, representing seconds in binary...Or just a small number...
Hammer (Tool)
Used to repair items. I know...Old idea.
Trap Door
It's what everyone has always wanted! A door in your floor (or ceiling). I'm having trouble figuring out how to trigger the door. The first is simply if you walk on the tile, it will open and you fall in. The second is that the door will only open once it receives an electrical charge. Also, will the door just reset after a second like when you press a button? I'm not sure of the best mechanics for these, but they are desperately needed for PvP and general traps.
Secret Door
Just like you see in the movies. Someone pulls a hidden lever (be it a book, candle, etc.), and a bookcase moves out of the way to reveal a new room! This door would require electricity to function (hence the iron door). The blocks you use to create the secret door would determine its look. The door should require two blocks wide of space so that one block slides inside the blocks next to it, revealing an opening a single block wide. The types of blocks excluded from creation should be glass, gold, diamond, bedrock, coal, and red stone.
Table (Cosmetic)
Plain and simple. A nice table for your dining room. Or office. Or living room. Or torture cham...Nevermind.
Chair (Cosmetic)
Same use as the table.
Wall Clock (Cosmetic)
No room is complete without something hanging on the walls! (Paintings don't count. :-P ) It could display just the same as the watch does in your inventory, but on a slightly larger scale.
Bench (Cosmetic)
Weary travelers need a place to sit down in a strange town. Those bunions are a killer!
Bed (Cosmetic)
OR
I couldn't decide what could work for a bed, but the idea is the same. Wool, legs, headboard, foot board. Just another household item.
I like the idea of tables and chairs, as well as beds. If we're gonna have book cases, may as well flesh out the furniture department with the bare basics.
I like the ideas but I don't like the materials used for the recipes. I've never heard of a chair, table, or bed made out of wooden pressure plates. (Imagine... laying down in bed after a long day... You hear a click, and suddenly, BOOM! The hidden TNT goes off. Your head is now gone.)
Other than that, I think the ideas are great. The fuses and timers are little much, because redstone circuitry is already somewhat complicated to someone who doesn't understand computer circuits. But perfect ideas otherwise.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
The only thing worse than Creepers? Zombie Creepers. After exploding, they come back from the dead to explode again. And again. And again.
Liek dooorz, teh tarpderz-
no, let me type properly.
Like doors, the trapdoors should be either wood, or iron.
Wood can be opened by standing on, or electrical current.
IRON can only be opened by a current.

But they would have to match what they're sitting on, or it would be useless.

I used the pressure plates because they were the only flat pieces. If we had a recipe for a flat piece of wood/stone then I'd use that instead.
I agree! actually, i had two ideas of my own for recipes.
first, a flashlight. this isn't as big on my wishlist, since being ableto hold a lit torch would be similarly useful.
+ redstone
next, a spear. swords are nice, but having something with a little more range would be nice, so you could attack things up to two or three blocks away.
Not bad... The circuitry ideas are good; anything that expands the amount of customization is good.
MOAR TRAPS! We need more traps in this game (customization) and trapdoors help. As for the secret door, great idea! So far, I simply block up an entrance with similar material. A secret door is good.
Furniture would help; at the moment, we have to improvise. Also, the clock adds some decor, so, good!
All in all, I give this a... 9/10. The actual recipies need work, but the ideas are excellent. Good job.
Maybe if you put an iron door for the trapdoor instead of wood, it is activated only by a current while the wood is activated by stepping on it.
I like that, actually. The door type can determine the type of activation, while the panels around it determine the look. And maybe there should be slightly different look from other tiles. Pressure plates sit slightly raised, so maybe trap doors can be slightly lower. That way the cautious people can look for them, and the, well, less than observant, can fall victim.

Support for most!

I'm primarily a builder in minecraft, I like creating little villiages and the like and making the place simply look pretty.
When you're limited to paintings, bookshelves and whatever you could vaguely make in semblance from blocks... Doesn't leave much room, so to speak.
I would kill to see such things implemented, Thumbs up!

i think to many things in minecraft have an actaul purpose :biggrin.gif:
but the chairs should be like
