It seems like my wood that I lit has been burning for about 5 days in minecraft, how long will it stay burning?

Actually wood needs to burn on all 6 sides for it to disapear which rarely happens.

There's some glitches with things burning endlessly rather than burning up. Either it burns up rather soon, or it burns forever. There's no inbetween.
