Step 1 Open up minecraft.
Step 2 Run the world you want to play.
Step 3 open task manager
Step 4 goto processes
Step 5 goto Javaw.exe
Step 6 do as shown in image below
(right click on javaw.exe and hit set affinity... )

make sure only one box is checked

I'm wondering if this would also reduce the amount of processing power that minecraft takes to run? Because I really don't have problems with lag, but I do have problems with my laptop overheating while playing.

as for me spamming my site 1: i asked a mod and he said it was okay if i posted my first thread that advertised my site kinda as for my second post (this post) i put together a tut because i know that allot of people are having troubles with lag and these methods helped me allot so the least you can do is let me put my sites url on it
I have a two dual cores and changing it to just one actually DID work. Minecraft has gotten very angry with me a few times as far as lag goes. Especially when I have very large worlds. Thanks for pointing this out~! =)

*May be because I set it when I was on the menu, not while in a world.
Can you wait with the Esc menu open so that your not letting your day go to waste?

Apparently Minecraft doesn't run very well with multi-core systems.
If Minecraft is multithreaded, then multiple cores would most certainly improve performance (it would then be true co-execution).
My computer does suck, by the way. I'm getting a new one soon though, haha.

No i dont think this will work because when you pause you stop the game hence will stop it from loading
