Yo so I'm playin and this game used to be faster, now it lags if it's on far rendering and I have to keep it at normal fog and fast settings. It's only using 10-20% of the cpu at most, so why won't it go faster? Back when it showed the fps up top I ran it super fast at super far fog and fancy graphics, did notch change something to make it slower?

The current state of minecraft makes it far too hard to masturbate to, I have to build my own pornography pixel by pixel.

If I play the game using anything but tiny render, it lags pretty bad. If I leave it on far render for 2-3 minutes, I get a black screen and have to close MC. Not sure why; my laptop isn't that old and while it isn't your top-of-the-line gaming machine, it has some power. I, too, would like to know a solution to this problem.

For there is naught to fear;
the gang's all here,
so hail to West Virginia, hail!
I used to have the same problem, but after downloading a texture pack, ive been fine since. I doubt the texture pack itself couldve done such a thing, but i havent done anything else regarding MC, so im not sure what else couldve done it.

Just stating the obvious but the game can lag a bit if it's generating new world, and it can lag a bit heavier if there is like a mega cavern system being generated below you. Also I don't think cpu matters that much, but rather memory speed and size.
Even after it's loaded I've found massive cave systems on my worlds will continue to cause horrible lag, to the point where I just have to start over regardless of previous achievements it's just not worth it.

Did your texture pack make flowing water/lava not have animations? If the animations were removed it would reduce lag drastically. I myself have to play on tiny distance, fast graphics, game booster on and still if I find a lava pool or massive cave system lag out my butt.
I assume it's the way the game was coded - I'd accept weeks of secret friday updates being code fixes so that there is zero lag. I'd give up the Halloween update for it.
