So here I am, sitting in the lookout tower, packing up my stuff.
I plan on using the next day to collect wool for my tent, using everyday to travel north and using the night to rest.
North, where is north? So here I am sitting in my lookout tower, waiting for the sun to rise while pondering which direction north lies...
Also, what would you guys pack for a journey?
Any tips for experienced adventurers?
I am not a combat expert, got my ass handed to me in every single encounter, any tips here?
Yeah, already packed my stuff, just need to collect some wool for my tent but I can do that on my way.
For some reason, all the sheep disappeared, maybe it has something to do with me throwing snow balls at them?
No need for boats because my island is in an ice region, so I need to make a fireplace to keep myself warm.
Edit: so which direction is north in this game?
i dont pack anything important like diamonds.
All it takes is a few cheap-spawned creepers who enjoy skydiving off mountains and landing on unsuspectiong travelers.
All i suggest are these tools
2 steel-iron pickaxes
2 shovels. You never know where youmight wana start
2 buckets
leather armour at least
alot of torches to mark your way
And dont forget these, just in case:
The plants you have. AT least 2 of each. I would bring 2 cacti, 2 wheat seeds, 2 sappling, and 2 of the green bamboo-looking plant.
extra wood and stone helps to.
And whatever space you have left, use it for food.

But what should I do with the iron and diamond then? Leave it behind?
I don't plan on going back to my home, just keep going north until I find a new place I can call home.
This map is interesting, a lot of small islands in a winter region. No huge land so there isn't much resources around.

trust me, unless the voyage is almost 100% safe, dont risk the diamonds. Later on build a little tunnel or a minecart system to your main base, then retrieve the diamonds. The diamons are not that important, and if youstart out using them you will only get bored.
Gah, the first time i left my main base i experienced skydiving creepers after traveling for 4 minutes.

I see, then I just make the neccesary tools from the diamond and store the rest in my basement if I need them.
It seems no one managed to tell me which direction is north.
Anyway, time for me to head out to one of the nearby island in search for some wool, I don't think 5 is enough for a tent.
Edit: so the sun rises in the west and sets in the east... which makes it harder for me to determine north since I don't think that matches with how it is in real life... or my brain is messing with me.
For as long as the grass grows
For as long as the stream flows
And the sun shines down unto us
Only they who walk the clouds know
For how long the winds blow
And the sky is blue above us
If I go on a long trip I pack the following,
Sand - You never know if you want to make a quick way up a mountain or down a hole.
Buckets - For water and lava.
Iron tools - I shouldn't have to tell you why you will need these.
Food - For health.
Seeds - For a stable amount of food in-case you want to settle down.
Armor - I suggest Iron Armor but leather would work to.
Coal - for smelting and such.
Torches - For light you may want a lot.
Compass - To find your way back.

That chicken has shifty eyes, he told me there was a lot of treasures inside those caves...
Yeah, the chicken was talking... no I did not eat those mushrooms... okay, maybe one or two...
Edit:
Is this what a natural cobblestone factory looks like?

One thingi learned in minecraft: NEVER go underwater!
Lonely aquatic zombies always know just the right moment to hug i trapped swimmer.

Print screen maybe?
The direction of my home is behind me, I was on my way to this big land for sheeps.
Doesn't look that big.
Kind of creepy, but that little mini waterfall made me curious... so I walked slowly towards it.
Holy crap, I found the gate to the land of the dead. I ran out of the hole and covered it up.
Then went to the island and tossed a snowball on a sheep passing by.
You using any mods or somehing that removes water?
Cuz there should be water there

Found my dinner .
Maybe that made the water disappear from my sights or something?

FOLLOW THE CLOUDS!
... I don't know where my base is anymore, I got a bit too excited with this huge island that I wandered around with no landmarks placed or memorised.
The sun rises in the EAST and sets in the WEST.
Clouds always move NORTH.
I like to set up signs in my caves that point directions so I don't get lost. :smile.gif:
No monsters so far, I know that they can't spawn on glass or half-steps... but does anyone know if they can spawn on water/ice?
Also, setting up torches on an ice floor = not a good idea.
