I have Constant Re-Roll Syndrome. I used to play minecraft into the wee hours of the night, building and crafting and mining. But lately I have been deleting and rerolling worlds non stop to find a "good" one. But they are never "good" and I delete them within 5 minutes! I can't even get past my first night before deleting the map and rerolling.
Well, re-rolling to try and get a Winter Mode map I can understand. But re-rolling right off the spawn because the world "wasn't good enough"? Most of the time the spawn area looks relatively boring. But when I walk about 5-8 chunks away or even just climb up the hill I always seem to spawn next to, I find there was some awesome right next door!
So, Constant Re-Roll Syndrome Cure #1: Explore a bit, don't judge a world by what's visible from the spawnlocation.

I used to re roll, but now, I found this ugly map. I tried to stick with it. I wasn't satisfied with the first house. I was going to delete it actually. But, I saw this: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=46129 and it inspired me a little. So, I dug a mine under my house, and made a mineshaft. I found 2 caves to spelunk to (Got 7 diamonds, few stacks of coal, some redstone, and a lot of iron in the 1st cave. Fixing 2nd cave since it kind of ruins my mineshaft), and got addicted to the map.
I think by "good" map he means he wants certain features near his spawn. I kept re-rolling because I want a spawn not on a beach. Didn't get one I was quite satisfied with, but it was okayish.
What you need to do is, just before opening a map, make a promise to yourself that you WILL develop that map as fully as you've seen others develop their own. If you need to, write it down.
I did this the other day (as I do tend to re-roll maps a lot) and, as the world loaded, I told myself, "This is the map I'm going to build everything I've dreamt of on. I will not re-roll a new map!"
I've been playing the same map ever since.

...(Notch) forged the all-powerful, unbreakable Adminium Blade, which he used to confront the beasts...
I was re-rolling for about an hour today, looking for a good map (my criteria are: a good size island, not too close and not too far from land, big land but lots of water too, caves visible from the surface, and lots of mountains), and I finally got one I liked. It's not perfect, but I'm sticking with it. :biggrin.gif: I don't just tell from the spawn, I et the map load for a minute or so, then load it into Cartographer to get a good idea of it.
How do you cure Constant Re-Roll Syndrome?
I am here for you, Don't be afraid to send me a message.
You will be one with your land.
Same.
But for me its a bit more specific. One with snow.
