Sneak-
Might just be, but if I climb out of water while sneaking onto a plant I'm trying to farm, it gets trampled occasionally.
Same goes for jumping which is understandable, but makes tiered farming difficult.
Cacti Farm-
I've built a basic cacti farm with three cacti growing around a single block that culls them all and has them drain through a 1x1 hole in the ground into my home, so all is good. Unfortunately my plants are always trampled by chickens that get in through that hole, is there a way to stop that?
Also, Cacti tend to have visual issues when they grow up to a block without dying. (If you look on the side with the block, you can see through the cactus to whatever is behind it.
Mob Farm-
I just want to confirm I got my idea of a mob farm correct. I've built a dark room under my house that has an open entrance to a dark room with running water that runs into a dark room with a cactus and water running around it through a 1x1 hole to my feet. This was built with the idea that mobs would spawn in the waterless room, and get pushed to the cactus by the water. I've been waiting about half an hour on inventory idle and no loot has come down, and I haven't heard any evidence of mobs spawning back there. Each room is completely dark, And the room is 2x3x3. Was wondering if I was missing anything. Also I've explored and lit up every (known) cavern around the home.
If you want a really efficient farm, you need a much bigger room. I made mine 30x30x6. It seemed to me increasing the height from 3 to 6 also improved spawn rate, so you want a big dark volume. Jon's 10x10x5 might work fine too, though I wasn't happy with my 20x20x3.
Also, what ZombieWeasel said. Drowning traps are better, in that regard.
Okay well, I've got the drowning working (I guess), though I think I set it up wrong, because I can't figure out a way to make items I drop into the current actually make it through the hole. Any tips?
Where do they stop? When drops get stuck for me, it's usually where water drops one or more levels. That can be solved by adding a source block on the level they get stuck, to create horizontal currents.
Alright im sorry do you have any sort of visual representation? I've tried every combination of block and water source to get these things to work..
From the side it looks like this (right now)
Blue block being a water soure
There are two drops here where there will be no current sideways, and drops will get stuck. I've replaced three blocks in your quote to fix that. Basically, don't let drops fall straight down onto a ledge that it will not be pushed off of. You need a water source on the same level as every ledge.

Zombie - Is there another way for me to kill them?

Also has anyone else noticed just how creepy it is when it turns night and the music plays?
Edit: Drowning has been set up, room is dark, now I just have to wait.
Edit2: Will mobs spawn in rooms with running water?
Yes, but I believe they will not spawn on it, so you can't cover the floor with it.
