I hacked the cobble - JUST THE cobble everything else was gathered legit. (I hate waiting for a cobble gen and or digging up plain cobble)
Here is a youtube tour:
i'm still not done with it - filling it with rooms, tombs and dungeons. There are quite a bit of extensive caves beneath it, and also the first fully underwater cave i've ever seen in minecraft is near the spawn at the end of the bridge. (entrance fully underwater - extensive caves once you swim in)
Did you make the half-blocks from the hacked cobblestone?
yes. which actually didn't take very long considering. you get quite a few steps from each batch.
So pretty much the whole pyramid was built from hacked materials?
In his defense *Having built something primarily out of half-steps even though I didn't hack it* Half-steps are a very annoying thing to use.
For three cobblestone you get three half blocks. To make two half blocks stack on eachother you of course need two half blocks. Thus making 6 cobblestone worth 3 blocks.
That is incredibly tedious in the large scale, trust me.
Think about it this way:
Most people don't do things all by themselves, they get others to help.
in minecraft, there is no one else.
so...
hacking=help
help=normal
yes it does make it less impressive, but it's not like he's doing anything wrong...
Yar, all gathering the resources yourself means is that you had the time to do it. It doesn't take any real talent to mine out a massive amount of stone. (So no big loss hacking it in, I mean you wouldn't say the creative things like Shadowmartch were unimpressive and creative is basically the same as hacking mats.)

anyways, GIVE US THE SAVE! >:biggrin.gif:
Its more like creating something from nothing, thus, throwing conservation of mass out the window. (then again, it's minecraft, physics and such don't really matter).
and at least i'm admitting to hacking in the cobble.
believe me it took an odious amount of time to build the damn thing (even though it's technically "hollow" to save work) working with those half-steps in a pain in the butt. if you screw up and double step it, you have to break it, you only get a single half step back.
heck building the bridge to it took almost 2 hours. (i kept falling in the ocean. hurray for crouch tomorrow)

Thats awesome! Shame about the hacking though, kinda takes some of the kick out of it. Never the less, impressive build.
Now make a few more and replace everything nearby with sand.

Not really. It's not like he used MCedit to build the pyramid.
