Is there a version of INVedit or NBTedit for Mac? I'd love to try it out but unfortunately I don't have a working PC to use until 2 weeks from now.
Any help is appreciated.
Here's something that may help. This thread shows you how to get INVedit to work on a Mac. You'll need X11 (which you can install from your Mac OS installation disc) and Mono to get it to work. I've tested it using the instructions from the linked thread and it works pretty well. Not as smoothly as the Windows version, but hey, at least it works at all on a Mac.
This will obviously require you to install some stuff on the computer, so I'm not sure how far you'll get since this is your dad's computer, but at any rate I hope this helps somewhat.

I can attest to this I also use mac(i know) and have just gotten this to work soooo i does, it just takes a little bit of work and terminal usage
Why the hell mention Macs, everyone will instantly assume it is their job to be an asshole and say "DONT BUY MACS YOU FOOOOOL PC IS WHERE ITS AT I PWN J00". Listen to Zaefyr, anyways.
I'm ashamed that almost everyone on "TEH INTURNETZ" doesn't know Mac can whip Window's ass four times over, just because most of the big gaming companies don't support Mac doesn't mean it sucks, they just feel Mac wants to keep itself as a reliable work computer and make the I-whatever the apple gamer tech, its a sad turn of events but, it happens. Also, if you look at it, 2 of the greatest game companies (Valve and... NotchCo ) support mac fully.
and also, runescape supports windows as well, BURNED

Nevermind paying 3 times the price for outdated software.

But I'm assuming most of us are gamers here, so...gamers tend to like systems where they can play the most games of critical acclaim or otherwise high quality. Which would be a PC, in this case. Plus, I like having a Task Manager to forcefully murder any unresponsive programs or processes. The force quit function on Mac's doesn't really work all that well.
Also note before you respond: I'm using my Mac as I speak, just not for anything more than work and Minecraft, the latter because gaming on a Mac is pitiful. For everything my gamer soul needs, I have a trusty Dell, a PS3, and and Xbox 360.
*I will admit, Macs are the best work computers out there.

This thread is quickly going nowhere and is turning into a PC vs. Mac thread.

Unfortunately I agree. I thought this thread was more recent, so I posted =/
But anyway, I found what I was looking for, namely that I have found there is no native INVedit for Macs. So hello to $10 (this information helped me win a bet).

Honestly... I know I'm not answering your question, but I had a PC and switched to a Mac. A Macbook Pro from a (second, first one died out) PC desktop... I would never go back to PC. Macs run infinitely better and I can do everything I want. People really have to stop baa-ing like sheep and just following whatever everyone else is saying. Most people who say "oo never buy a mac man" probably never even tried a Mac. And they probably all love their iPhones anyways...
So anyways just wanted to have a little rant to those who say Macs are bad for no good reason..
Install X11 from your OS X DVD (should be with the developer tools)
Download and install Mono
Download and unpack INVedit
Open Terminal
use CD to get to your folder like "cd downloads" - "cd infedit"
and start it with "mono INVedit.exe"
Works great :smile.gif:
And shut up if you know nothing about Macs. What a bunch of whiny kids in here who can't afford the better OS ...
It's so much better that almost every major software and gaming company in the world refuses to program their apps or games for it.. It's too good to run those games that's why. Macs are for rich snooty people who think they are better than everyone else, smug shall we call it? They are the same people that all drive a Prius. The end.. stop derailing and tell this guy what his options are.
If you cannot get it running natively, you also might want to think about trying Sun's VirtualBox, or VMWare, or whatnot.
That aside, lowerthanlow, the vast majority of Linux distros are free. If you pay for Linux, you better have a good reason.
And furthermore, the Windows VS Mac debate is moronic in this regard. He's not asking for advice on buying a computer. He already had the computer, and needs help ON it. There is so much disinformation in most regards on both sides of this debate that I'm surprised this thread hasn't gotten locked yet.

Fire And Ice
Some say the world will end in fire
Some say in ice
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire
But if it had to perish twice
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice

Whats your problem? Did you write santa to bring you a mac and he didn't? That'll explain all the hate. If macs are only for rich people why should they drive a prius? You should write a book about this. I can see the title right before my eyes - "The biggest conspiracy ev4r - The connection between apple, prius and 9/11". That would sell some copies.
And I don't think that I'm better than everyone, except you as I'm not judging you because of your obvious hate against people who aren't exactly like you or have your opinion. And for the rich part: I'm not rich and a used or refurbished mac doesn't cost more then one of those loud plastic windows things in that price range. If you compare stuff, don't only look at what's inside. I wrote in another thread the same: Macs seem to cost more but in the end they are made at a higher standard, less noisier and outrun most windows notebooks under 1500 USD. But I'm tired of writing the same arguments over and over again. Some people just need something they can hate. BTW major software and gaming companys are concerned about the bigger market with macs and are porting/co-developing more and more applications and games in the past few years.
PS: Funny you're talking about derailing when your post isn't even helpful in any way.

VMWare doesn't run on G5 processors. He "could" use Microsofts Windows Emulation (forgot the name) but that's really slow. Linux or FreeBSD on the other hand is an option.
Any help is appreciated.
both foriegn to me, and both of them you should never buy. Well, maybe linux, but NEVER buy macs.
How about some actual help? It's my dad's. Derp.
