Post what type of roads you build, and how you construct them.
Generally, I try to make my road in a straight line in both directions. I tend to build a 2 block wide road with "railings" on each side. I place a torch on one side every 8 blocks so the entire road is lit up. I also use half-blocks for stairs so I don't need to jump while traveling. Most of my roads are on the ground/water, but if I encounter a valley or need to make my road go upwards, I will make a "skyroad", with 2x2 pillars every 16 blocks from the ground/water (I prefer these because they look cooler). If I make a sidepath to something, I will use a 1 block wide road with railings.

A more dramatic example of my "skyroad":
Same road at night (torches light fully so no creepers :laugh.gif: ):
I personally don't build roads very often but the ones I've built are ground level highways about 3x3 straight through the terrain with glass sealing up the caves I go through. I've built one that was totally enclosed with glass but it was very labor intensive.

I have a BAD habit of not making roads in infdev.... I keep telling mself I need to espcially since my respawn is in water..... but I always get preoccupied with something else once I find my way back to my base and start collecting to build the road.....

"So we step away from the mainstream and live like vagabonds and common dropouts. A psychedelic rhapsody for someone just like you."
I use stairs, and go above any hills or such I see, and the road goes from my spawn to my house, and in the opposite direction towards my soon-to-be castle.
It is a common assumption among online game players that anyone who does better than you must be cheating, because the idea that someone is actually better than you is too distressing to contemplate. The more consistently someone does better than you the more surely they must be cheating, again because the idea that you just suck by comparison is unacceptable.
I'm OK with sucking myself, so long as I'm having fun doing it. My my, doesn't that sound dirty.

I made a Bridge to connect my Man made island and fort to the Mainland.
The last section is made off wood so that in an emergency I could burn it to protect myself
Now im working on adding a network of underwater tunnels with the walls made of glass.
or at least the top
I've only built one road on one map but on the map are 2 3x3 pitmines and I even have a 16x16 starting up, and I can still easily get pictures.
For mr roads they are usually 3x3 and I usually end up taking the more nicer route and also relying on nature to get me up or down a big distance, one instance of that is when I went right through the cliff and I found myself high above an ocean, I used a cliff and burrowed done that with a few viewing areas too.
I also have about a billion pictures to take too and show you.

Red circles show important parts of the Ocean Road, small circle shows my lighting system if you find more of them you can see the pattern. Medium circle shows the curve I made with an entrance back up if you fall in. Largest circle shows the road on the cliff, I was stuck up at the top there before I came up with the idea.

Red circle shows the base that I have to go across the water for, but right now I'm in Burrow Road, one of the roads that save time instead of just going over the cliff, plus it would've made the trip awkward when getting down to the cliff.

Red circles show the wheat farm and the etrance to the road that leads to the joining of two roads, this is actually Farm Road all of these two roads in that picture.

This is me at the entrance of Miners Road, the base is obvious and you can see the winding road with it forking off in the ocean to go up.

16x16 mine I started, that has gotten me heaps of the road material. This picture was taken at the top of my road in line with my base.

Talent didn't go anywhere, it just gets lost in all the noise. You have to find it.
I just build tunnels, mostly. Working at night is the same as during the day, no terrain issues, and you get plenty of rock for building with. Two wide, three tall, torches in alcoves every ten blocks, staircase to the surface every hundred. No monsters either, unless they come down the stairs, which doesn't happen often.
In Indev I used to build 2 block wide cobblestone roads that were inlaid in the ground and were more for ease of navigation than ease of travel, but in Infdev I've just been mining huge labyrinths underground that I sometimes connect with the surface instead.

If you dig to the bottom of the map, you don't even need torches! You can just dig quick lava alcoves on the sides of your tunnels every few blocks, with a gap one block tall leading to the lava so you don't fall in. It must have saved me hundreds of torches by now.

No, I can't see that you've put any time into digging. Got pictures?

or at least the top
and so on, i like how the double blocks make it looked paved
when the road leads inside, i have torchs placed into alcoves spaced 3 apart
when the roads outside, i place torchs along it, off the path
