the skeleton's arrows are the single worst thing in the game. always makes me jump.
the other day, I had just started a new level. I spawned in a nice big canyon with lots of exposed iron and coal. it also had many holes in the walls, which I attempted to patch so I could keep the critters underground. so as I'm minding my own business mining my iron and stuff, I hear two TWANGs go off. now, by this point, i had been climbing up the canyon walls to reach a high iron deposit. so i get hit, panic, accidentally back off my stairway and fall to my death.
I play in fullscreen, so it's kind of a hassle to go out of it to save, so I don't save too often, and I forget a lot.
I try to save every night.
Same here, and sound lags me too much so the scares are worse.

How to feel cool on Minecraft forums:
>New Feature is announced
>Begin claiming it ruins the game "MINECRAFT ISN'T A BED/DOG/HAVING FUN SIMULATOR, IT'S ABOUT STANDING IN YOUR HOUSE WITH NOTHING TO DO ALL DAY REMOVE EVERY FEATURE GUH"
Not far from my entrance's torch, I was looking toward dark area to see if it's safe to move forward and to chop nearby tree real fast. But instead, suddenly there was many red eyes popping up, more than normal, one leap at me, almost push me down into trap pit. :ohmy.gif:
I'm not so sure how long I've spent in these mines...it may be that I've been down here for a whole day. Finding my way back is difficult, I had to seal the entrance to the mines after the zombies found their way in through a creeper's well placed explosion. I've been digging upwards forever, but the mines were pretty deep...for all I know, I'm only half way to the surface. The single torch I managed to scrape off of the wall while running has done me well, but to find some coal would be best...you never know when an underwater lake could take my only light away from me.
The digging is tough, especially with these wounds...if only I still had some soup left, perhaps it would help ease the pain as well as my hunger. My sword is broken, and I'm down to my last two pickaxes...but, what is that I see in the ceiling? Could it be, legendary diamond! I don't believe it, I have to take it with me...it must be mined and escape to the surface with me! I break out my trusty steel pickaxe and begin to break away it it, the vein is surprisingly large! My sword will look nice in the future.
The vein begins to wear thin, this is probably my last diamond, but with ten already I might as well be the luckiest man on this god forsaken island...well, I already am. With the last bit of strength my steel pickaxe has, I break through the rock, the diamonds are mine...but what is this cavern before me now? Its so dark...I move my torch to the opening in the wall.
-Thwang!-
Unbelievable...in the darkness stood a white figure. I fall backwards, clutching the arrow in my torso...my vision begins to go red. Those damned skeletons...I can't believe I'll never make it out of this cave alive. My only wish is to have seen these diamonds sparkle in the light of day.
((Playing this game at night, sometimes those skeletons make me jump with their arrows from nowhere.))
It's funny that this game is scarier than all of the horror games I've seen.
That's because most horror games only focus you on killing what attacks you and solving stuff. Usually the monsters that come out are planned. However, in Minecraft, you're too focused on building at times and mobs are so random that when you see them or hear the twang of Skeleton's arrows, you're a lot more scared because you're caught off-guard.
Most horror games keep you on your toes. Minecraft keeps you curled up on the ground begging for mercy.
After a brisk day of mining coal and iron, you decide to go home for a good night's rest. You have to return to your sub-base of stone in the middle of the island, since you can't make it to your underwater homestead. Once you're safely inside your home, you decide to craft a few things and sort our your chest with the new items you found that day. Soon after, you decide to take a swim in your conveniently placed underground watercave pool. You jump into the water, and quickly resurface to shake something out of your hair.
I scared myself in this giant cave. I had to restart because of all the enemies, its like they fall from the ceiling D; And, I've still got the save with it being unexplored.
Its terrifying to just walk along, especially in a part of a cave where you SWORE was cleansed in holy torch light, to hear footsteps. Another is when you are exploring a cave and walk by a tiny opening in the wall... GUUUUUUGH TWANG TWANG.
I really need to stop mining underneath myself, especially when I hear footsteps nearby. I'll break through into a massive cavern extending down into the darkness, and I'll sit there for a second, completely still, staring at the shadows. Then there'll be a TWANG and I'll jump out of my skin. It's awesome.
Also, I was playing L4D earlier today, and it wasn't even creepy, let alone scary.
L4D2 though contains the scariest F!*@ING thing you will ever see in your entire F#*!ING life.
SPITTER. *Shudder*
ONTOPIC: I had made a huge tower but couldn't supply it with torches. I kept adding to the tower to make a spire, once I finished, I looked out on the moonlit landscape.
SUDDENLY, ARROWS. I Shat my pants several times before hitting the ground.

And then you hear a splash behind you.
Followed by seven explosions.
I jumped because I destroyed a mushroom behind the block I was mining.
(I like having the volume up loud so I can hear the footsteps of incoming creepers...)
Come visit us!
I would rather see my screen explode suddenly than hearing a splash, then explosions followed by death
*Twang*
I swear, I haven't jumped like this is forever.
See? I'm not so malicious...
Also,
Mining on low health, sound off. Look down, see an arrow in the ground next to me, and die.

Seriously, a freaking skeleton coming around the corner when you have no idea they are coming is freaking scary.
Minecraft is the game where you could need new pants in-game and real life.
