Yesterday I put together a simple skinning map for the new mobs. Here it is, I just highlighted the less obvious areas. Areas like the face and sides should be rather obvious. The eyebrows and eyes take their color from a few blocks, and that color goes onto the whole thing. I haven't found the one for the eyes, but I'll be looking for it. It's somewhere on the face.
So this is just to get people started on skinning their new minecraft characters, theres much more possibilities and freedom but its a tad bit harder.
That's the skin map
That's a cheap ninja skin, made it because well, a ninja is pretty much one of the easiest things to skin. Just drag and drop it into your minecraft.jar, and it will replace White Steve with a ninja. If you want to replace Black Steve, rename it mcexport2.png
Oh yeah, and feel free to post any of your skins here. Have fun :tongue.gif:
I have NO idea what the random black and green squiggles are for, though. Will need researches.
Oh yes, and to clarify, the bottom portion of the skin is the overlaying textures, I.E. shirts, pantaloons, gloves, shoes. The top portion houses the flat layers. Currently there are no hats >.<
Open run.exe, type in %temp%\www.minecraft.net, and then it should be a folder called Minecraft_Sneakpeek. If you haven't registered I don't believe you'll have it, though.
Oh wow, I didn't think you could do this, very cool. I'm not really in the mood for skinning at the moment, but I may try making some nifty skins in a bit.
Save it as something you'll remember, on desktop or in pictures and open it in Paint.net. Use Paint.net instead of default paint because Paint.net supports transparent tiles.

Note:I found this, not make it.

PLEASE
But they're just begging to be mutilated in some sort of sick fashion for this very reason! How could you possibly not love them?
