hey guys I've been wanting to map my SMP server for a while and have been searching, but I can't find and add-ons programs that will map my linux server, I've tried cartographer but it doesn't work.
Are there any good programs for mapping SMP servers that run on Ubuntu Linux
The last version comes with the google map api. Pretty nifty, but our server map is about 90 mb and it takes about half a hour to render. It's way faster if you just make one call to c10t, but all you'll get will be a large PNG file. Here, some example.
It's not in the repositories that ship with Ubuntu, but you shouldn't need to install any depency. Just download and run with the options you need.
One you have the map you want, make a cron job so it'll execute automatically!

c10t is great.

I really like what you have set up here, and would be interested in doing something similar on my server.
Is there a guide to setting up Google Maps API like you did. I've done some searching and nothings come up so far.
If you download c10t from the "official" website, you'll find the .sh file you need to generate it. The name is self-descriptive. Just run the script without any option and they'll be printed out at the prompt. Follow the instruction from here.
If you want to add a cron job, take a look at crontab's manual entry. Don't trigger it too often as it may cripple your performances (though, c10t offers some means to reduce its ressources usage).
I don't have everything close by, but the whole process is pretty simple.
Now, installing and configuring Apache, I'll let you sort it out There are quite a few tutorials, and honestly, it's not that hard.
Now, I feel like my post is not as useful as it could be...

As far as the Apache, Cron job, and c10t install, I have that already covered. I have the maps just places as normal image files on the server, so my players can see them. I just didn't find any sort of manuals or tutorials on the google api script. I don't like surprises, so I like to get as much information as I can before I run anything.
