If I have to listen to another chorus of chicken pain sounds when they are "drowning" while swimming in a water block when I'm trying to concentrate to what I'm doing, I'm going to scream.
It says in the bugs for SMP, that chickens and pigs do drown. From what I've seen, it takes days.. RL days until that happens. And I wish they would freakin' die already!
They start yelling in pain for awhile, then stop while still swimming, then start again, and the process repeats. And it's driving me insane.
I'm about ready to get into minecraft.jar and remove the chicken pain wavs. Only thing that's stopping me is the fact my changes will just be undone once I launch the client and login. It'll probably scan the jar for any changes and remove them.
Please, :iapprove:... I beg you. Stop before I (not really) choke someone to make the ear pain go away. It's not really bad with just one. But when five get in the water and start doing their pain wavs...
(and no I'm not muting my speakers. I also wanna hear other sounds)
removing the chicken sounds would work, btw. The client doesn't remove changes.
Bad thing about that is after checking out the .jar, the sounds are in .class files. And since I'm no programmer, I wouldn't know the first thing to get them out.
Interesting, but I've been busy looking for the sounds. I finally found all the ogg sound files of the game. After using audacity to silence them and save them as ogg, I tried to fire up the client. Yet the sounds were still there.
The game's server IS changing my edits to the defaults. So I edited them again, this time making them read only and it worked! No more annoying chicken pain wavs!
Making it read only forced the game server to stop changing the edits and work with them.

Seems to work

I feel like celebrating.
But on a serious note, it is a bit annoying but I've been playing eve for years and playing games without sound is nothing new to me
