I AM GOING TO POST THIS ONTO THE CLANS SECTION OF THE FORUM. DO NOT POST IN THIS TOPIC. GO TO THE CLANS SECTION.
I have a server named Carbon Domain in SMP. We are a fairly peaceful clan, and will probably be the last ones to go into war about any one particular disagreement. This is a list of some of the specialties you can have in the server.
Please sign up here before coming into the server.
Please read all the specialties before signing up to be one.
Also, something else. A lot of people send me a PM about joining, and I get excited thinking it's a personal/friendly message, and it turns out to be somebody asking to join my server. Please do not PM me about the server. If you have a request to join a job, or a question, or a suggestion, please post it in the forum. That way people know you joined or asked a question or made a suggestion.
CONSTRUCTION
Underground Builder = The people who build the underground parts of villages, towns and cities. You will be given a free Iron pickaxe, because you have to dig a lot, probably, but the miners might be nice enough to help if you ask.
Builder = The people who build the overground parts of villages, towns and cities. You will be given a free stone pickaxe, to fix mistakes made in stone.
Sculpturist = The people who travel with frontiersmen and build giant sculptures of our community's symbol. (Credit to Killinkyle464 for the idea. I took out Thomas shrines and sacrificial pits. None of either, from anybody.)
TRAVELING
Frontiersmen = The people who travel far and wide to find new land rich with resources.
Landscapers = The people who travel with Frontiersmen and help to adjust or even flatten terrain, build land bridges over canyons, and build bridges over water, and lay down railways.
HUNTING
Shearer = The people who collect the wool from sheep.
Pork Hunter = The people who hunt pigs for meat.
Bird Hunter = The people who hunt birds for feathers.
Zombie Hunter = The more daring feather collectors. Despite their name, they hunt both zombies and birds.
Skeleton Hunter = The people who hunt skeletons for arrows. (Don't forget, you could buy materials to make
arrows from people, and you can be a miner for iron, a lumberjack for sticks, and a chicken/zombie
hunter for feathers.)
Creeper Hunter = The people who hunt creepers for gunpowder.
Spider Hunter = The people who hunt spiders for string.
Cow Hunter = The people who hunt cows for leather.
Slime Hunter = The people who hunt slimes. Since this is very dangerous, and it is sort of hard to find slimes if you ask me, it is recommended that you pick another job to go along with it. Also, I don't know what you can do with whatever slimes give you, so for now, this is just a generally unrecommended job. More of a Minecraft hobby, sort of.
GUARDING
Foreguards = The people who march in front of a group of important people, or people with loads of stuff they are delivering, who kill hostile mobs, watch out for enemy tribe members, or be the first to fall off a cliff you can't see from the angle you're standing at from the cliff.
Bodyguards = Exactly the same as a foreguard, but stands closer to the group.
Guards = The people who stand guard at a specific station, such as protecting a stash of diamond-filled chests.
*Every guard will have two or all guarding types, alternating between them, so that things will take a really long time to get same-old and boring.
FARMING
Farmers = The people who farm wheat, bamboo/papyrus, and trees. Different types are self-explanitory.
SELLING
Merchants = The people who sell things at markets and stores.
Real Estate Merchants = The people who sell residencies and land plots.
MISC
Technician =

As for OT, I think you could add "Engineer" or "Technican" to the job list. These people would have to be skilled in using Redstone and creating contraptions, mechanisms, traps, locks and things like cannons and such.
Miner = The people who mine for stone and minerals.
Herder = The people who herd mobs into cages to be kept safe and so they do not run away, mainly sheep, for their wool.
Lumberjacks = The people who cut down trees for wood.
Bankers = The people who run a bank, and do deposits/withdrawls.
Tell me if I missed a job, or if you would like a job.
Specialties:
Leader, helps with other specialties, too: DracoRex1812
"Shearer = The people who collect the wool from sheep.
Wheat Farmer = The people who farm wheat.
Bamboo/Papyrus Farmer = The people who farm bamboo/papyrus.
Guards = The people who stand guard at a specific station, such as protecting a stash of diamond-filled chests."
Please dont think I'm ripping on you.. just my thoughts..
Doesnt sound very fun to me. Logging in to a game to stand at a chest for a few hours just in case someone comes and tries to take something? Running around for 10 minutes punching sheep for wool? Builders given a free stone pickaxe? Thats not exactly a tough item to make for yourself, but at least the builders/miner jobs have things to do. Do you have grander ideas that you're still fleshing out, or..?

Nope, sorry... I mean, I may think of something new. The guards job does seem boring, but it IS a volunteer thing, all the jobs are. So only people who are interested will take it, unless we have to have one, then if nobody chooses to, we could assign it to somebody. I'll compress all the types of farmer down to just "farmer" and maybe have guards alternate between types of guards and other jobs. I'm kind of rambling at this point, not necessarily talking to you, bacon, but just changing things. Okay, I'll change stuff and then make a changelog. Thanks, bacon! :smile.gif:
^ dont criticise him, this is not some regular noob. ive been on this server, its awesome.
Oh, no, don't get me wrong.. I think it's a cool idea, I just cant see someone wanting to be a treasury guard and nothing else.. which is why I asked if he was working on other things - like merging treasury guards into roaming patrols all thru the city and territory to prevent theives coming in or suchly, or chase away vandals.
I actually wouldnt mind being a farmer - have a plot for wheat, a plot for bamboo, a plot for trees (which you'd cut down and re-plant yourself I'd assume, shipping the raw wood off via powered minecart to the treasury for distribution to the builders and miners.), and keep each person's plots to be relatively manageable by 1 person, then opening another one elsewhere, like across the island or continent, so as the Civ expands, the resources expand with it. You could also have underground farmers farming mushrooms to replenish the health of miners and UGBuilders
OP - Have you thought about landscapers? Not only planting cacti and flowers and landscape trees and whatnot, but also pre-clearing land and prepping it for the railway or new buildings, or Frontiersmen, who explore the wild and build temporary shacks in the wilderness for new mine exploration, and build land bridges across chasms and bodies of water?
CHANGELOG
*New MISC section for jobs that would be the only job in whatever category they fit into.
*Types of Farmers compressed down to "Farmer" and put in new MISC section.
*Frontiersmen(credit = Baconated)
*Landscapers(credit = Baconated)

NOTES
People can have more than one job, and can alternate between them when they want to or when the leader says they need to due to lack of resources that are supposed to be collected by members of their other job.
Engineer - specializes in the construction of bridges, tunnels, and rail systems.
Bridges are made by Landscapers, and tunnels are made by Miners, or more likely Underground Builders, since miners mine to get stuff, UGBuilders mine to make underground structures, such as tunnels. Thanks for reminding me about the railways, though, I'll probably put that in Landscapers. I think baconated thought of that one too, but I forgot.
I'll be a general worker until we get inventory saves.. till then, it's kinda pointless to mine any ore, it'll just get lost (unless you're going to spawn more later).. but I can set up tree/wheat/bamboo farms, craft some rails and help lay the groundwork of the main buildings
