Hello everyone, I've just started trying to host my own server, but my friend and I are having a strange set of problems that I'm hoping someone will have a solution to. Currently we are both on a campus network, and when I setup and start a server from my computer, I can connect just fine, but when my friend attempts to connect, his avatar logs in on my screen but he never gets past logging in. I can see his custom avatar and everything, and I've tried disabling online-mode in case it was minecraft.net holding it back. Just as a test we tried it the opposite way; he hosted the sever, and we could both connect just fine. This would be perfectly acceptable for us except his computer cannot handle running this much at once. We've both redownloaded all minecraft related files, both have tried disabling windows firewall completely.
I've tried several solutions by different people in this board, but I haven't seen anyone with this kind of problem yet.
Hello again everyone, have some new information on this and I hope someone has something helpful for me to try this time. I'm now on a private network, with port forwarding enabled properly, but I am still having this problem. I can connect to myself using the local ip, however no-one can connect to me (That they can see, their avatar appears in game and I get a notification for it in game.) It's certainly related to some setting on my pc that I don't know about.
I've tried several solutions by different people in this board, but I haven't seen anyone with this kind of problem yet.
Thanks for all the help in advance!
Any help would really be appreciated.
