UPDATE: If you're experiencing the problem below, I've found a fix to it. If you're running a multicore system, Minecraft doesn't seem to always like that. To fix the problem, go to your task manager, processes, and find the java task that's massive in memory. Right click it, and set it's affinity to one processer or the other. If you're also running the server from the computer, make sure to set the server program on the core that the client is not running on.
Hey all.
So I just bought Alpha a few days ago, had no problems up until last night. When I log in now, I can play for about three to five minutes before the client lags extremely, so that the game becomes unplayable. This is also usually around the 500 MB point on the client, though when it's running I still have another 2 GB of RAM available. I've tried turning graphics to Fast, set my rendering distance to tiny, and close other processes on the computer.
I'm wondering if it's somehow account related, or maybe there's just something wrong today/yesterday because I had the same problem on my school computers.
My setup:
Quote from My computer »
OS = Windows 7, 32 bit
CPU = 2.71 GHZ, dual core
Video = NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
RAM = 4 GB
Hard Drive = 465 GB (254 GB free)
I had the same problem. I can play single player survival for hours on end with max settings. 3 minutes on smp and suddenly I am watching a slideshow.
I had stood still in spawn and everything is fine, 3 minutes in and fps dives.
I have joined a server and ridden rollercoasters at max fps,, mined, laid bricks, tracks everything is wonderful... 3 minutes in and fps dives.
I set my av to ignore minecraft.exe and everything has been cool since.
