Ive got two problems. The first is that port 25565 now for whatever reason is dead, and unusable after using the server on it. Not even the server can access it. the second is this error:

You need to set thye ip in the server.properties file to be the one of your servers local area network. In my case, my computer was 192.168.0.101, so i set it to that
Jademalo, that wouldn't work (and to humor you, I just tested it) That is the local IP, which other people who are not in your network can not connect to.

Wait wait wait, how >_>

my computers local ip is 192.168.0.100, change it to what yours is. The server.properties file.
This doesn't work for me either. I used two IPs (one from whatsmyip.com and one from the command prompt. It was labeled IPv4 Address) and both gave the error.
I'll say this first, using friend's ign on the forum for now. (the one who was also trying to host)
On our servers, when either of us host, the server DOES say that the character name logs in. You are very much correct.
What you are incorrect on, on our end, is the fact that the one who is joining from the external IP address never sees the world. And actively shows a screen which says "Logging in" until the server disconnects because the HOST'S internet connection forcibly disconnects from the router. You could have taken that screenshot while the server saw the external connection was in, but before it crashed the internet. Now, I do not doubt your server working, absolutely not. I've joined friend's servers before and know that others work as well. But on my standpoint, there is no proof. Everything you have we have, and we still disconnect.
Whether it be my server or his, both of them force disconnects the computer itself from the router. Effectively cutting the internet completely externally, making it impossible for anyone to join. It also refuses to connect to the router untill the server is closed. In which case, after disconnecting the wire to the router from the back of my tower, and plugging it back in, THEN I could connect to the internet again.
Now, my server and his server do the same thing. Local IP for server IP, server port, and select world.

... Obviously I can't log on to his desktop because TeamViewer doesn't have the correct password.. That's nice. :sleep.gif: And he went to work though, so any way of testing my or his server awaits his return home.. like 8-9 hours from now. >.>
So your current suggestions are unable to help, Give me your best shot :ohmy.gif:
I had setup my server.props to have the ip my laptop is wirelessly connected to, which would be 192.168.1.5(in other words, server-ip=192.168.1.5), and my friend was able to connect and everything was fine, but I started to have some very slow framerates after a while, and decided to restart my computer and server. There are no instances of javaw.exe or whatever it is in my task manager, and it still says failed to bind port. This being me connecting thru 192.168.1.5 and my friend thru my IP:port.
When I remove the ip from the s.props.txt I am able to connect via :25565 or localhost, my 192.168.1.5 wasn't working anymore, and my friend can't connect. I am trying some things out to fix this, but if anyone has anything to suggest, let me know.
-EDIT- I just checked my IP for this reboot, because I had also reset my router, and it was 192.168.1.1, which I had tried. Same failed to bind port problem.
-EDIT#2- I realized I put in the primary DNS server address instead of the other IP, which I tried, which was .1.2 instead, and I COULD connect to 192.168.1.2, which was in my server.props file, but still, my friend can't connect, but the Failed to bind port problem went away. sigh...
-EDIT-FIXEDDDDDDD-
Although this post now seems pointless, when my router was reset and the router decided that my local ip was 1.2 instead of 1.5, The problem lied in the fact that the port was forwarded to 1.5 before my restart, and I had to reforward the port back to 1.2 for it to register properly. Just an update.

Any help?
You need to set thye ip in the server.properties file to be the one of your servers local area network. In my case, my computer was 192.168.0.101, so i set it to that
This lets people connect with my external ip, and the port has been forwarded.
Just as a tip, you dont use a port when onnecting to 25565#
EDIT: some proof
Tested again.
You sir, deserve my undying gratitude.

my computers local ip is 192.168.0.100, change it to what yours is. The server.properties file.
