I don't think a wishlist would fix it, since as SomeoneD pointed out, that you can login as any one you want, so if they made a wish list, and people requested to be on it, then truly anyone could join in. Even if you made it secret it wouldn't work because all you would have to do is guess a name, or if they are made up then someone could leak it. I don't blame them for not wanting to have the server up with everyones creations, no telling what will happen.

First of all, sorry everybody! I'm just as bummed as you are, but I don't know anything else I can do without getting our server pwnt. I guess I could make a backup and run the server through the weekend and then rollback on Monday? But that would be about as lame as not playing at all!

Couldn't we setup a temporary whitelist to fix this until Notch fixes his ****?
Sadly, even this wouldn't work, because everybody could pretend they were me or you and get past the whitelist. :sad.gif:

We could try running the backup version of the server, and if nobody destroys the town terribly, continue on with it. Otherwise if the town gets burned down or griefers get crazy on us, we can just use the backup.
Also you could remove all mods/admins, so the only person able to do anything is you FROM YOUR server console on your computer. That way people can't log in as you or me and ban people.
well this sucks. at least we have backups to roll back to. otherwise, rebuilding the town would be a nightmare. Good luck keeping the peace and bringing her back to normal Derek!
I joined up on like thursday or some stuff like that, and I meant to post an idea. Even if it's just for temporary downtimes, perhaps have a backup ready to toss up for anyone to go on and just joyride on; as to greifers and whatnot, there's no solid way to prevent them, but that's the point of it being a 'whatever' world. Or perhaps run it on another port where only reg'd members or people who've been there a while would know. Worst to worst, I like the idea of running a backup save, and just dickin' around on it.
Also, as to the cartographers map, how often is that updated? I was considering once the server is up again getting a team of explorers together to venture off into the vast unknown to make a second small town or whatnot. I have no problems with the main one clustered around the spawn, but this one could be a nice second location. Who's with me!
When will you get it back online, because it says 24/7, so I'm guessing it's a technical issue.
It's offline for security reasons. Notch's authentication server is down, meaning that anybody can log on under any name without a password. For example, you could log on as me, the owner of the server, and wreak havoc.
It'll be back online as soon as Notch's authentication server is back up.
I was so bummed to see that the server went down this weekend. I hope notch can get it sorted soon. we are going through horrible withdrawals at this point I think:) I dont know what to do with myself right now. It is so boring at work now.
P.S Does anyone know why I keep getting an error with Jave that says COuld not create jave virtual machine? I get this on just my computer at my desk running XP SP2 I have the latest Java and tried to install it again. It only happens when I try to run it from desktop and the game works fien running in browser for some reason. I read it has something to do with the heap memory but I have no clue how to edit that.
Side note- At least no one can grief our hard work right now:)

I am new to Peacecraft...been building for like 3 days...I just tried to login and it said I wasn't on whitelist...since when did Peacecraft go private?

As of now, there's only one board, but I'm hoping I can get one of our trusted community members to manage it for me.
