Every host here wants the server code to be stable, us included that's why we do so much work behind the scenes to help try and make that a reality, but with alpha code as stated there are bound to be problems unfortunately nothing we or any other host can do but try and work with the code we are given.
To conclude again I'm sorry you weren't happy but I think its the level of expectation, that the minecraft server runs well, that's core issue, something that's out of our hands :sad.gif:
i have had the feeling that you guys do a lot "behind the scenes", and i appreciate that.
also - with the stuff legitimately "out of our (the hosts) hands", they are good at communicating those things.
I've been playing on a server from servercraft for awhile now and I've enjoyed it. I've chatted with one of the guys that runs support there and he is pretty cool and helpful

Hey all,
I'd just like to come here and share my experience with Servminecraft.com so that others will read this and find that Servminecraft is not the right company to rent a server through...
I've had my server for almost 2 months. The first month was okay; When my server was started it had a memory leak and I was unable to connect to it, but that was fixed within a day. Now, a month later, I've reason to believe my server has another memory leak - it's so horrible it's unbearable to play.
Ok, fine, I'll just mail Servminecraft about it and it'll get fixed the same as last time.
A day goes by...
no response.
Ok I'll mail them again...
Another day, no response.
A week later, and 5 emails later, still... no response.
So I sit here, twiddling my fingers up my rear like a moron, waiting for these people to respond, and I wonder, "Is this what $20/mo is worth?" I mean I didn't pay a dime to Blizzard and they still managed to respond to me within less than 24 hours... amongst however many requests they get per day... and this company, which supposedly has new employees, didn't remember to hire someone for customer services?
The only way to contact them I see is through their contact tab via email. No number, no nothing. So I guess that's $20 down the drain, mind as well call it a scam.
So, learn from my mistake, don't rent from Servminecraft.
No communication and my server isn't working correctly. It hasn't worked correctly for the past few days.
I second this. Please redlist Mynecraft.com!
Our experience with Mynecraft was a nightmare, and according to our research, the "Steven Hammerly" guy is a known scam artist. As a caution to all beware any host with out an extablished reputation (1+ years) that refuses to take paypal!
Problems with Mynecraft initially included: Missing inventory, world resets, constant downtime, progress resetting, severe lag, and much more. Steve is quite a smooth-talker, seems extremely friendly, and clearly experienced scamming people, claiming the problems are temporary and appealing to people to be patient, and (supposedly) offering free upgrades and more free-time on services.
Despite supposedly having an extra two weeks of free time (along with 2+ weeks of downtime), our credit card was charged 5 days before the next billing cycle. Our member had to cancel his credit card and is trying to dispute the charge. It also appears all updates to our world over the last month are lost, as we were never able to get access to any of the backups.
Here's info I extracted from our discussion / investigation so far.
It's approx 2x or even 3x as stable as the MPUK Server I had, and the FTP is just amazing :smile.gif:
VERY quick support and easy control panel..
Thanks AOWC! :smile.gif:
thanks for the info on the company sir.
also - mynecraft.com has been updated in the first post and "redlisted" until further comments from the company rep's or MULTIPLE positive reviews from customers.
thanks to everyone for your reviews, both positive and negative. things like this help everyone in our community, both the renters and the "rentees" :smile.gif:
posting a mynecraft.com review for someone who wanted to remain anonymous so the rest of the community can see it (some info removed to preserve anonymity):
Can you please redlist Mynecraft.com? I want this to be anonymous...*snip*, but I am fed up with them right now.
They haven't contacted any of their customers in the past few days. The server keeps glitching on us and keeps resetting it's self. I have talked with others and they have the same issues. We are mad. They were great, but now they are screwing up royally. ...*snip*... I gave them a chance, but now I'm done!
another message that was sent to me via PM that i will keep anonymous:
*snip* I was wondering if you have had any issues with them lately? I have had zero access to my server since the lastest bug update and zero communication from anyone over at mynecraft.com. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same... *snip*
Currently I'm using Multiplay and other than taking almost 3 days to load my map and Minecart Mania! mod I'm happy with them, some lag but not too much and any down time wasn't noticed by me or those using my server. Could just be the times that we play.
The big problem for me is they told me they installed the Minecart Maina! mod for me and restarted my server. I know they restarted it because I was on at the time and got booted, but the mod doesn't work. I know how to use it, I've played around with it on another server. I sent a reply back via the email they sent me saying it was ready to use. I hope they get back to me soon and get it fixed. I've only been using them since 11/6/2010 if they can not resolve this, I will be looking for a server that can support this mod.
Not long after I posted this I received a reply from my email. They stated that they had installed it and I may need to install it into my client. I know this isn't the solution, but I tried it anyway. It still doesn't work. A friend running his own server from Linode made a patch that will install it into the server correctly. I sent this, but I don't know if they will use it. Will update when I know more.
Multiplay has taken care of adding Minecart Mania and all is working well now. They just sent an email newsletter letting everyone know they now have US customer support now with extend hours. Thanks Multiplay!
The price and capabilities of hosted servers varies quite widely. Some examples from are listed below. I do not use 1and1, and I'm not including links, just pulled from them to show the range.
What have you all seen was sufficient for a well running Minecraft server? I've heard of people paying hundreds of $ (USD) per month and that seems to be overkill. My server is running on a desktop in my house, on a cable modem connection and does pretty well.

i'm hearing things from their customers and want to get a broader opinion/review on the current state of things over there.

Where are you seeing this? I don't see any minecart mods in ClanForge under the addons tab.
Never mind, I'm an idiot and didn't remember that there were more listed in the drop down tab. LOL
