I would like to know how to host a LAN Server. Because soon I am organizing the PC part of the LAN Party and I would like to try MineCraft there. I am going to host the Server on a old (broken) laptop. (only the screen is broken) But I cant get the server to work, or I get redirected to Singel player or I get the message that it failed to connect and that the server might be down.
Can anyone explain me why this is happing and why I cant get it working.
PS: I know someone has made a TUT for this but I followed it and had to download a file. But I cant download the file because it is GONE. So help would be great.

With the current client, you cannot connect to servers if you aren't connected to the internet.
If your server is running, and your client has internet, try this:
Go to this url: www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?ip=[server-ip]&port=[server-port]
replace [server-ip] and [server-port] with the appropriate ip/port

EDIT: NVM Fixed I didnt got the url correct. I did instead of IP= server=
then it kinda fails...
I rember someone downloading the client files and the html file, then modifying the html file to use the local files.
You could edit your hosts file so that any connection to minecraft.net points to your own pc, then have it run a script that does exactly what minecraft.net does, I guess. But I'm not sure exactly what minecraft.net does.
And yes, during the minecraft.net blackout, there was a version online where you could connect by ip and port, but it's down since minecraft.net is back up.
