And burns forever, it should be the primary fuel source. But it would be a bit unreasonable to have a whole block as a fuel source, so maybe you could find some way of turning into a fuel source. Then, have the layout of the lantern as the following:

Of course you could also add oil so instead of the above:

Oil would sit on top of water, leveling out until it is 1 flat shape above a water source. It should also be found underground, and lights on fire when not around water, if exposed to fire(i.e. if found from a cave). Acts the same as water, and is collected in buckets, it should also replace, or be better than the bucket of lava in furnaces
My overall idea would be:

No, no. It doesn't need to be hard. Was making torches hard? No. It doesn't have to be. It shouldn't take that much material. Just some simple suff.
All it need is this

You don't need Iron, and Glass. It doesn't need to take that stuff.

Btw, there is a dynamic light mod, and it works great without lag. Search the modding forums for equip able torch I think its called. It even works with the mod better lighting.
You guys are making these recipes way too complicated. It needs to be simple like the torch recipe.
This recipe should make more than one seeing as torches can be made in batches of four.

Naw, that would be a bit overboad with the Iorn and Redstone. Rather, make it like this:

= Fule, so be it coal, bloodstone, or lightstone.
Seeing that I want to use up all of my stone, this would work fine. It's abundant, easy, and versitle. I say this because you don't have to go to hell and back to have light. Just use your stone n' coal. It won't be as bright as the others (though it'd be just as good as a torch).
Also for your effort, it would be able to light up your way from your hands, and can be hung on ceiling.

Oh yeah, hasn't ANYBODY learned that flaming doesn't get ANYTHING done? I mean seriously all you said was that it's a bad idea to have to go to the nether to get a fuel source. You never used LOGIC to state a better point, so therefore, your LOGIC is invalid.
