yes I read them but when I count the biomes Notch listed there is 11. so I emailed Notch he says there are 11 so I am leaving the post at 11. if you dont believe there is 11 then go look at the op and tell me which one shouldn't be there.
Seasonal Forest might act like the ones we see now, sorta bulb shaped foliage.
And forest are more evergreen, triangular:

But what gets me is shrubland... will they be new foliage for shrubs that can grow or be place like cacti.

And the wording of 'seasonal'... will seasons be implemented in the future?
Totally agree, but evergreen trees should be found mainly in the taiga biome, and fully grown ones should reach much higher than the jungle canopy, as they can grow to over 100 meters in height (more than enough height to walk under), whereas the typical height of a rain forest canopy is around 30-45m.
I don't think he'll have different tree types in time for the update, but I think this is a very necessary thing to add because the biomes in the video looks pretty much the same, except for the tundra and desert varieties.
CobraA1 in locked thread: Well, this does arise from the 256 limitation - it doesn't allow very many variants of blocks, so he has to find ways to create variants without creating new block types.
That doesn't stop Notch from making, say, a seasons.png file that grass, leaves, and trunks can take other textures from depending on temperature. See? No new blocks and pixel artists get another new toy to work with!
What he has now makes things such as, say, green lights on a christmas texture or getting colours to stay right in our packs (a cheery pack isn't so cheery if the leaves change to a gloomy colour. Likewise, if this goes the other way, then I bet Gloomcraft would like worse as a result)
ICE DESERT IS TUNDRA! They are the SAME BIOME. He said so on his twitter. He said Ice Desert was what he called it before he had the correct name for it.

I am really happy to move in a tree fort. Can't wait even if there are 2 days left wil the Halloween Update!!!
My head will go like SSSS and BOOM when the update will come!
Yeah, same. It feels almost like christmas with all the juicy stuff he's giving us :biggrin.gif:
yeh well the update was NOT as good as I thought it would be. don't get me wrong I loved it but there was no torch change and SMP didn't get updated a whole lot.
I would like it if there was maybe a bit more desert and a little less snow, but otherwise it's epic and I can't wait for Halloween!
