The Ghasts are flying cuboid jellyfish that shoot fireballs at you, blowing chunks out of the world around you and setting it on fire.
So yeah, goodbye wall of glass ! :biggrin.gif:

Nothing a little lava and some strategically placed TNT detonations couldn't solve.
Not if the monster are there before you, good luck placing the TNT where you want it to be
You need to learn to think more strategically. Create a killing zone, where you funnel them in, then set off strategic stacks, and see how it all goes. You're just gonna start off with a good retreat, so you can set up. , for the ghasts, hope that works, and river gets the rest. You're funnels gonna be gone, after the , so just hope it gets all the baddies, when you set it off.

There's a good chance they wouldn't fire at you if you're behind a wall, though. Creepers don't explode next to you if you're behind a wall, even if it's only one block thick and made of glass. So the only reason they'd shatter your nice glass wall would be if they fire towards you whether they've got a clear line of sight to you or not, which would really just be hilariously overpowered. They'd be able to tunnel through anything except maybe obsidian, lava, and enough water to drown them.
1) Find a cozy (populated) town to victimize.
2) Portal to hell from there.
3) Dig / build yourself a bunker in hell , with an obsidian roof - close enough to the surface that ghasts will fly down and haunt you.
4) Hide many more portals to hell within/near that town , so that they end up right above your hell bunker.
5) Sit in your hell bunker for a while.
6) Portal back out and watch the chaos from a safe distance.
You just gave me inspiration about starting an SMP server, and the entire point would to attempt to colonize the new dimension.
These things are gonna kill me >.>

Off-topic, I'm making a redstonetorch-lighted spooky gothic "TELEPORTATION ROOM" built into the face of a cliff.
With a super-indestrucible door combo lock; 4 iron doors in one hallway.
That'll keep me ghasts away.
The entire cliff will be encased in a stone box and only accessible via a well-protected railway system.
