Lots of lava there. Make a moat of or something around ur house.
yah thats a lot of lava to go to waste. you should make an epic fortress with lava going all around the walls. and make use of it as lighting for your fort too. hell make the walls out of obsidian.

That's a pretty choice cavern you've got there.
Lava right next to water? Two resources conveniently available, now make a staircase out and reap the benefits.

Breakfast is no longer being served,
Prepare to get Brunched in the face!
I had been exploring this massive cavern for about two hours or so, hundreds of the various minerals, and I mistakenly dug out a coal block directly below myself. I fell into lava. I used every remaining healing item I had to keep from dying (luckily managed with one remaining heart). I decided I had way too much stuff to lolligag so i decided to cut my way out. I then stupidly dug an iron block directly above myself and got suffocated by gravel.
Moral of the story: whether you are digging down or up, vertical mining will kill you.

Also;
I request photographic evidence or I'll be forced to state that what you claim to have occurred, did not, in fact, transpire at all.
Heh, if I encounter lava I dig upwards to get above it, and then once I reveal the top of the pool, I sand bomb it. I will eradicate all lava.

I doubt there is a lack of lava in the world.
