By Posting your Content in these forums you are agreeing to accept and abide by the General posting rules of this forum as well as these listed below.
Effective immediately ALL CONTENT in these Areas are to comply with these Rules.
Licence/Permissions
EVERY CONTENT PACK (MAPS, MODS, TEXTURE PACKS, TOOLS ETC.) MUST PROVIDE SOME FORM OF LICENCING FOR USE, DISTRIBUTION, RE-USE, ETC.
There are many FREE licencing templates out there which you may implement. The most common and wide-ranging of these are the creativecommons licenses. They provide a collection of six types of licenses to choose from, one of which should suit the type of restrictions/freedoms you wish to impose in the use and re-distribution of your content.
Any content that doesn't have one of these licences attached can be removed and not accepted
There is also a Fair use policy put out by the US government which are is the legal system that applied to all of the above because this forum is hosted in the USA.
What this means is that for Existing and new content utilizing Any part of the other persons content must all follow what is listed below.
Any part of the others persons content (Example: Image of a boat, item, block, sound effect, etc.) in your content has to include a copy of the original licence and its requisites as they were imposed by the original author.
When the Original Author gives permission to others to use their licence they should also link to that thread that they have given permission to use their content. this will make it easier for all concerned in tracking down and removing stolen content
Example: You have used Someone Else's texture pack content as part of yours or as a template for missing items in your pack, these have to follow and have clearly notified their original licence. If this is not done and ANYONE REPORTS your content (with evidence), then your content CAN BE REMOVED from the site.
If and when you meet the licencing terms you may then re-post your content. IF you persist in promoting your material that doesn?t meet these requirements your warnings WILL escalate and you may even be suspended from posting or even banned from this community
Any content you provide for download must comply with these rules to the letter. Ignorance is no excuse and there will be no recourse for us but to warn you accordingly.
IF you?re not sure or don't understand any of them then feel free to contact a staff member, or original author of the content you are using to make sure you understand the licence applied.
Example: You decide to make a texture pack and want to use John Doe's Texture pack as your base, you need to read and follow the license that they have stated for use of their content. (Yes, even right down to a single part image of larger image. Example: A boat, block, item, monster etc. has to have that licence attached if you're using ANY PART of their content.) This can be messy if you use many other authors content (such as in repacks) you will need to make sure that every part of your content complies with and contains the preexisting licences or it WILL BE REMOVED.
Example of how to draw up your own Licence
Licence / Permissions:
select a line
All the work in this content is all my own
I've used content from pack VVV in my work with permission from its author < link to their threads> need to add a line like this to any one elses content your using, where they can see their licence / permission
then
XXX reuse content from this pack in other packs
XXX re-distribute this content
XXX write reviews with Screenshots
XXX Make videos using this content
where XXX = one or more of the following can / can't / need permission / give credits and link to this thread
List and links to other content allowed to use this content
or
List and links to other content allowed to use YYY part of this content
where YYY = eg: boat , monsters , block zzz, in other words what images they have permission to use
This is just a sample licence that I've just drawn up in less than 3 minutes
or you can use one out of the creative commons range , or even the WTFPL , or any others..
they all cover the same sort of things, it's basically there to let other users know what they can/can't do with your work
Reporting Copy Infringements You must show evidence in the report.
You either need to have a link to their thread on the MinecraftForums that has the copyright information of their content, or a link to their website where their copyright is displayed. Failure to do so could result in the report being dismissed due to lack of evidence.
