What is this adult-only function you speak of? I know in Minecon 2011 they had a 21+ club event with a DJ, but I'm not aware of anything like that this year. I'm 25 and was with a 24 year old (arguably very much adults), and this is the first I've heard of this.
I am sorry, but minecraft is a game aimed at children. Hate to break it too you but I happen to be very insulted by some of the things you say here. You were kids once, and not all children act like that. (I am a child and don't act like this, and I didn't go.) I came here to find out what it was like, and I get a bunch of ranting about children.
This game was never aimed at children. It was aimed at people that wanted to play a game in a sandbox where you build and survive. And I didn't say all kids act like that. But there were issues with kids there. Many were not behaving. And parents assumed that the people from Mojang were there to entertain their children. They were not. I wish they would go back to Vegas. I doubt as many kids would be there. Plus Vegas rocks!
And I did have a good time... It was kinda butt... But I did like it. There were too many tickets sold because the space to walk through was terribly tight on Saturday, and there just was not enough to do for 7500 people. It was just full of lines. Oculous Rift was awesome though.

He mentioned a 21+ function, I did not go, so I don't know if there actually was one, but I was just referencing the one he mentioned.

The problem with the truth, is that it never lies.
And I was told that there was one and it was invite only and only 900 spots. I was disappointed since I felt I paid $150 and basically had to tolerate hoards of children. I have been to conventions before and there have been kids but nothing like this. It would have been nice to be able to hang out with other minecon attendees that were adults to chat about the game and I dunno... have a beer. Maybe listen to some music. NOT be surrounded by families trying to take pictures constantly of their kids. Not having to deal with kids bombarding the area looking for worthless autographs... I am sure you get the idea. When I go to PAX East, I meet lots of adults and have really fun conversations. Yes there are kids there. And PAX is hypocritically kid friendly. But there are also events coordinated with some of the big vendors that are 21+. Would it kill Mojang to create a convention that caters to more than kids and/or youtube watchers? There are like a bagillion bars and clubs in Orlando.

If you are not going to make your gender obvious then do not get mad when people get it wrong. It is unrealistic to expect me to check everyone's profile before I respond to them to see what gender they are.

I enjoyed minecon...but as everyone else complains there were simply to many children! i'm 17 and while i don't expect to be treated differently then anyone else younger or older it was a huge pain to walk to panel's and see all the stands.I was talking to the famous films and asked him how he was doing. He talked about having to do allot of autographs and talking about his friend that goes by skydoesminecraft constantly being swarmed.(sorry i don't remember what his real name was XD). My friend that i went with went to jeb's panel "starting game development" told me how at the very end a horde of kids jumped onto the stage and asked jeb questions that didn't even have to do anything with game development. and looking back again my main complaint is not that theres little kids because its inevitable that parents are gonna get them tickets. its that parents have no control over their kids. a kid literally ran into me head first(im not a big guy...im kinda on the short side) and almost knocked me over.
(sorry about spelling and punctuation lol. i was never really good at that.)

Please stop hating on children for something they can't control - their age.
You all sound like jerks.
If you can't deal with children for whatever reason then that is your own personal problem. Don't try to form an army against someone because of how young or old they are.
Personally I went around and talked to hundreds of kids and their parents and LOVED it. I made a GREAT positive impression on a couple hundred families and showed them that the people in the panels who were knowingly being vulgar in front of thousands of children were not the end-all-be-all of the Minecraft community.
I'm sure if the parents of some of these kids were to see your selfish complaints that you would be receiving some pretty nasty responses. Think before you speak.

While i'm also complaining i was not "hating" or trying to put down anyone younger then myself. i was simply stating that some parents at the convention didn't have much control over their kids hence why i didn't enjoy minecon as much as i could of. seeing as you went to minecon (clicked your banner) i cant say you don't know what some had to put up with it. All i can say is some have more tolerance then others and theres no need to call people names when they are just saying what is on their minds.

I mostly agree with you. However, the only ways the kids bugged me was by:
1. The terrible and off-topic questions in panels.
2. Buying these things called "GameBands." They are $60 8 GB USB drives that store your Minecraft worlds on the go. First off, when are you going to be out and about and have to play your Minecraft worlds? Secondly, buy a $10 8 GB USB drive if you really do need that. Although, they did invent Dropbox for a reason..
So yeah, other than those things, the kids weren't all that bad.

Basically Gameband is making a small fortune off of people who don't want to learn and/or Google how to transfer files. Plus I'm sure they figured out that kids LOVE having something physical that they can show off to people. I mean, good for them for jumping on the market they saw, but whatever.

Yep, it was extremely clever and greedy(like most businesses). I heard those things were even so popular that they sold out! Must've been a small fortune made there.
Ugh, dont get me started on kids. I wore my full body steve costume for +90% of the event and it was incredibly stressful at times. Mobility in the costume was extremely limited(rigid legs, arms and torso), hearing was poor at best and my vision was watching the screen of my Galaxy S-4 so I had no peripheral vision and the autofocus lagged several seconds behind my head movements or moving objects. I cant tell you how many times I got hammered by kids with pickaxes and swords, the event staff had to get kids out from behind me a few times. And the majority of the times a child or teenager discovered that there was a small camera in a pinhole on my nose they would either jam their finger into it or hold their hand over it which threw me into pitch black darkness. The most unsettling moments though were the occasions when I would hear someone behind me make a joke about knocking me over or even start counting down from 10; there would be no way for me to dodge, fight back or even get up if someone tried to topple me. Fortunately none of the kids were impulsive enough to shove me over. During the closing ceremony I was wandering around(I taped white over my eyes like Herobrine) and I could see absolutely nothing around me but the dimly lit stage in the distance and whatever silhouettes in between. A kid started walking around me hitting me and pushing me for several minutes( I couldnt see him at all), and I was literally so freaked out I wanted to start swinging and kicking at the darkness to get him to go away.
Now that I've vented, I have to also admit that the abundance of kids there, particularly the smaller ones, were what made the experience of cosplay so awesome. Noone was more fascinated or amused by the costume than the kids there. Some were even shy or afraid of approaching me in costume. I really enjoyed the sense of creating a little bit of magic for everyone there particularly the children.
I quit my job and drove 1200 miles to go to Minecon, and I'd do it again next year if it's in the states.

So you have my full respect for that, I saw you on both days multiple times and your outfit was awesome, have 10,000 Internet points. I heard a few people debating if you where an 'offical' steve or not, great work on the quality of your costume
Sounds like you had quite the hard time of it, my friend who is really into Cos-playing in ridiculous outfits allways takes her boyfriend with to as 'security', maybe you need to do the same (I don't mean get a boyfriend, but recruit one of your (trusted) friends to come with )
It's wasn't as bad as some say it was, At least people were happy to see some good teams out there, you can't be so ungrateful for what you get, I mean everyone should be happy so why can't the children be? Not saying it's bad to go around getting all emotional because a couple of kids ruined your day but at least see it another alternative, maybe you're a bit too old for minecraft.
My little brother and niece was happy and thats all that matter to me, I don't care how I feel because really my opinions doesn't matters.
plus I love to see my young ones happy, it lets me know that they were doing their job.
But I doubt anyone is gonna listen because you guys are to full of yourselves and want to agree on one thing. and to GoT_Shot, I think I saw you o_O.
Same...

The funny thing is, Mojang takes a loss on every convention they hold. If it were some greedy business, it would cost even more money.
