can someone give a example of how to use the /clone command?
the help says
/clone <x1> <y1> <z1> <x2> <y2> <z2> x y z [mode]
so ive tried
/clone -77 52 615 -697 54 611 -695 52 613 replace
/clone -77 52 615 -697 54 611 -695 52 613
/clone -77 52 615 -697 54 611 ~ ~1 ~6
and they all come up with
[17:22:00] Too many blocks in the specified area (9315 > 4096)
any help please?
i have tried on server i created both in command blocks and in my command window
and both ways in a single player world

It's just as the error says: you are trying to copy too many blocks at a time, with the maximum being 4096. The only thing we can say is to double-check your xyz1 and xyz2 coordinates to ensure they aren't selecting too large of an area.
than doing
/fill 0 63 0 10 70 10.
Maybe integrate WorldEdit? I just like going up to the region and clicking or typing in //pos1 or 2 rather than getting the coordinates.
This is probably the best solution, and the current system seems over complicated for such a simple process.
Well, while I think the //pos1 - //pos2 way may be easier when building, I think that the "vanilla way" has merits when it comes to building adventure maps that want to fill in areas with blocks when some event is triggered.
If Mojang can somehow develope both methods, then the //pos method would be an easy for creative mode builders who just want to get stuff done, while exact coordinates can be used in adventure maps and command blocks.
Thank you for this help, I was trying to work on a neverending tounel design for a minecard and this was what I needed to help set up the /clone command and got it to work with little trial and error.

i get it (sorda..cant use modes now D:) u do cords 1 and cords 2 and select where to move cord 1! annnnd it will move all blocks inbetween cords 1 and cords 2
Ok, I get confused with coordinates in this game every now and then. If were to clone an area that is 10 blocks in length, 5 in width, 2 blocks deep, and 7 high, and send it to maybe, twenty blocks in the air above me, how would I do that? I get confused with some commands. I am not too good with them.
Position 1 is the right corner of the area you want to clone or fill. To find the cords of that block, look at the bottom right corner and hit F3. The cords will be at the bottom and it will say something like Looking At: 234 64 -345. That might not be you cords though, so just try to copy it of your screen. Position 2 is basically the same thing. Example : Looking At: 362 78 453. That is basically all there is for the fill command. Just add the block you want. Example:stone. You can also use different properties. Here is a video all about them
It Overall should look like : /fill 234 64 -345 362 78 453 stone
The clone is a bit different. You'll need to have 3 cords. Do the Looking At where you want it to be cloned. Example : Looking At: 532 65 232. It should overall look like : /clone 234 64 -345 362 78 453 532 65 232 A full video that if found helpful is this one Hope this helped

"-11 7 63" << Your first set of coordinates. Also good.
"0 305 3" << Hold! The Minecraft world is 256 blocks high, but the 'y' value you gave is 305. That's higher than the world is tall! Minecraft can't copy blocks that aren't there. This number can be at most 255, which would make your second set of coordinates "0 255 3" instead of "0 305 3".
"-11 6 63" << The third set of coordinates where the blocks are being cloned to. There's a problem here that I'll explain below.
"0 309 9" << What is this? The /clone command takes 3 sets of coordinates. The fact that you've included 4 tells me that you misunderstand how it works. Allow me to explain:
The /clone command copies a rectangular prism that has corners at the first two sets of coordinates (So in your case, that is all blocks between -11, 7, 63 and 0, 255, 3) and pastes it at the third set of coordinates such that the smallest x, y and z corner of the rectangular prism is at the third set of coordinates you entered. The last few arguments of the /clone command are optional, and change how the command works. You can read more about them here >> http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Commands#clone << In general, the rectangular prism you are copying cannot overlap with where it is being pasted. Thus your third set of coordinates is wrong, as it would result in an overlap of 1 block. It should instead be "-11 6 64". If you want to keep the same coordinates, look at the link I provided.

says 305.5 to big has to be 256 does anyone know why its not clone it
Because you can't clone that many blocks. If you want to clone a big structure I suggest you use multiple command blocks. Hope this helped.

@JasonR80: Let's break down your command:
/clone -11 7 63 0 305 3 -11 6 63 0 309 9
"/clone" << Good.
"-11 7 63" << Your first set of coordinates. Also good.

You can only clone things in render distance or spawn chunks to a place in render distance or in spawn chunks. Moving something 200,000 blocks away would be better done using MCEdit >> http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-tools/1260525-mcedit-minecraft-world-editor-now-open-source
