I know that "Jeb's Door" has been done countless times... but I just couldn't stand the pistons and wiring that were visible. So I present to you something completely impractical:
No pistons visible when closed:
No pistons visible when open:
The redstone mess that makes it possible:
More mess:
How it accomplishes invisible pistons:
First it retracts like normal:
Then the offending pistons are pulled up:
Back:
And are replaced by the much more prettier sandstone:
It's not as fast as it could be, since I was so lazy in wiring it up.
You also have to manually reset it right now, since I couldn't be arsed to wire that up. However, both directions work perfectly fine, and all the redstone could be moved downward and hidden so that there is no visible redstone or pistons whatsoever.
I'll probably update this thread with an improved version at some point in time.
