What is the BEST setup for PVPing? Im talking about all out, end of the world, no hold-s barred fighting here.
You have one fight to settle the biggest grudge against the person you hate the most on the server. Your reputation and your valuables are on the line, and you HAVE to win this fight.
I know that the best way to approach a fight is to know what your opponent is going to come at you with. But lets say we up against the best of the best. You don't know who your up against or what kind of environment/terrain you will encounter. What will you have in your inventory when you are ready to go head to head with the most deadly player on the server?
What movement strategies are you going to use? What order is your hotbar in? Are you going to run, hide and be a resourceful ranger, or rush them while mashing W like a melee-addicted barbarian? How are you going to use the environment/terrain to your advantage?
Full Protection IV Unbreaking III diamond armour, Sharpness V Fire Aspect II diamond sword as primary melee weapon, same sword only with knockback on it as secondary melee weapon, bow with Power V Flame I Punch II, at least 3 enchanted golden apples, 2 stacks of Ender Pearls, at least 3 2 minute regen potions, at least 4 1:30 Min Strength II potions, same for speed, at least 2 8 Min Fire Resistance potions. Poision II splashes, 1:30 Min poision splashes, Extended Weakness and Slowness potions, half a stack of TNT, Flint and Steel, a lava bucket.
It also would be helpful to know where the fight will happen and prepare the place to your advantage. Destroying your opponment's base beforehand is also very useful because they can't quite recover with no stuff.
For tactic I would go for being sneaky and doing some shadowstepping: Throwing one Ender Pearl straight up and then throwing the other one to your target, it makes you teleport to your target, where you can drop splash potions and attack and then teleports you back to where you started where you can maybe drink milk to get rid of debuffs, drink your buffs and start attacking your target with the bow. If they run away, chase and if they come to close, switch to your primary sword and hitting them a few times, when it gets critical, knock them away with your secondary sword and shoot them a few times. Drinking an invisibility potion beforehand hides your skin and nametag and they don't know who attacks them until the battle ends.
I don't PvP much, but when I do, I use an enchanted bow and an invisibility potion.
Works pretty well.

also i would go with a bit of stealth as long as you can and make the are as much trapped in ur advantage as possible, then if u have to engage in melee combat, if u prefer a sword more anyway have the sharp 5 fire 2 and run in half circles (soo run in a half circle in one direction, and then return the same way, or just make constant circles) this movement will help reduce hit amount DRASTICALLY, in fact ive been accused of hacking because this tactic worked so perfectly, then id run and regen and prob run in circles w/o hitting to waste thier buffs, then get my buffs and pwn them, also have 1-2 extra sets of pro 4 unbreak 3 (or TIM armor, if u have access to it) in the very rare case you have to lose armor. also, if u KNOW UR GONNA LOSE, have some lava handy, one to die in so he doesnt gain anything, or 2 to RUIN THIER Armor A TON, soo yeahh thats all i got to say
Before the battle begins, use the following potions on yourself:
Regeneration 2:00 Potion.
Swiftness 8:00 Potion.
Fire Resistance 8:00 Potion.
Night Vision 8:00 Potion.
Strength 8:00 Potion.
Invisibility 8:00 Potion (optional, since it doesn't cover armor or held items ).
The following is a list of items that you should have equipped or in your inventory at the start of the battle itself:
The Hotbar, from slot 1 to 9:
Diamond Sword with Sharpness V, Fire Aspect II, and Knockback II.
Bow with Power V, Punch II, and Flame I.
Stack of Enchanted Golden Apples.
Stack of Ender Pearls.
Splash Potion of Weakness.
Splash Potion of Slowness.
Splash Potion of Poison.
Bucket of Lava.
( Whatever you prefer in this slot: Water Bucket, stack of TNT, etc. )
Armor Equipped:
Diamond Helm with Unbreaking III, Protection IV, and ( Respiration III or Thorns III, depending on preference ).
Diamond Chestplate with Unbreaking III, Protection IV, and Thorns III.
Diamond Leggings with Unbreaking III, Protection IV, and Thorns III.
Diamond Boots with Unbreaking III, Protection IV, and ( Feather Falling IV or Thorns III, depending on preference ).
Other (Non-Hotbar) Inventory Items:
2 Splash Potions of Poison.
7 Splash Potions of Harming.
2 Stacks of Ender Pearls.
3 Stacks of Arrows.
The rest of your non-hotbar inventory items are optional and vary from person to person. Many more potions are recommended. You can include shorter-timed, but more effective, variations of the previously used positive potions for yourself. Also, more harmful splash potions, especially Slowness and Weakness ones, should be included as an extended battle would leave you vulnerable if you only used the ones in the Hotbar against your opponent.
Diamond Armor, Lvl 30, with Feather Falling on boots, Respiration on Helmets, and any Protection on all pieces; Unbreaking if possible. Sharp V Fire II diamond sword, some enchanted golden apples, lava bucket (3), flint and steel, TNT, water bucket, milk (3), splash health, damage, and poison pots (3 of each), a stack of torches, bow (Power V Punch II Flame I Infinity I is best, even better with Unbreaking III), an arrow, other potions with positive effects, if any, and ender pearls, if any.
