Minecraft is unstable. We all know that. Sometimes it is more stable then other times. With every update, it seems Mojang adds more and more stuff to make the game more glitchy. Yes, I understand there will always be bugs. But alot of the bugs and the overall stability of the game is unacceptable. I can't tell you how many times I have died over the stupidest, most unfair, annoying things in this game. For starters, the game is way to recourse intensive for alot of computers to run. Hell, since the 1.6 update 90% of laptops cannot play the game anymore, and Mojang has not even tried to fix it yet. This isn't the case for me right now, but Christ, that is terrible. They should have fixed this long ago. Also, the game doesn't run well for no good reason at all on decent PCs. And no, the lower settings for the game are terrible too. Tiny is a awful solution as you're at such a disadvantage in just about all situations in this game. Another thing that causes unfair deaths in Minecraft is the stupid internal server . There SHOULD be a setting to make restore it to how it was before. If you want to play the game with no lag, you are out of luck because they thought it was a good idea to make players who aren't using LAN suffer with lag in single player. God, I have died SO MANY TIMES FROM THIS. Just recently, I was turning lava in to obsidian while mining, and the game was freezing up (another performance issue, I have tried adding RAM, but of course, that doesn't work). So I decided to re-launch the game. What a mistake. I opened it back up, but only to find the server lagged and I somehow magically telported into a obsidian block and died. I had tons of stuff. What a waste of time. And every time Mojang updates, they add new features and NEVER fix performance. Sure this isn't a problem for a small percentage of the players considering that have good computers, but not everybody does. I love that they give us these updates for free, but they don't even bother fixing Minecraft's flaws, they just add new items/blocks ect. I know I am coming off as a , but I have been playing this game for 2 years now and i'm kind of sick of the unfair glicthes and stability issues in the game. I'm waiting for the people that will just defend the game and say that Mojang works hard and tries to do everything they can. I agree, they do work hard on the game, but they seriously lack the time to fix these unbearable problems? I love Minecraft, I am a huge fanboy. It is my one of my favorite games, but Mojang really needs to fix the game-breaking glicthes before they add more things to the game. Please.
Your computer probably isn't as great as you think... Minecraft runs just fine with 512 MB of ram on Fancy graphics and Normal Render Distance, just lags in Jungle Biomes. It's also possible that you're allocating too much RAM, I'm not sure about this but that supposedly makes Minecraft switch to Disk which makes it slow as crap.

This is the best signature you've ever seen. Trust me.
I think you are blowing things out of proportion. Sure, Minecraft isn't exactly coded in the best way, though it gets the job done. Such a big gaming company can't simply re-write the progress they have made since it was first released.
It's not all down to the coding of the game, despite the looks of it, a game like Minecraft still requires quite a bit of horsepower. Allocating redundant amounts of RAM to Minecraft (or any game, for that matter) will not have an effect on over-all performance. You should feel grateful that the Mojang team releases actual substantial updates rather than having a few bug fixes every quarter. Just because a game uses 16x16 tiles doesn't mean it needs the hardware of a Nintendo 64 to run it.
Hell, since the 1.6 update 90% of laptops cannot play the game anymore
People are more likely to read your argument if you put into bite-sized pieces called Paragraphs.
Seriously, a lot of people don't like have a giant wall of text stuck in their face.
Back to the subject, I run MC on a Macbook Pro 13" on Fancy, Far and Max FPS. I rarely get lag spikes like I used to and this is with just 4 gbs of ram on my computer. 1.6.2 hasn't changed anything for me on the lag scale.

To be blunt, this is just plain wrong.
No, if you would have bothered to read the full post, I said performance is not my problem at the moment. I know Minecraft still requires alot of horse power. I'm not one of those guys thats like OMG MINECRAFTTTT RUNS SOOOO BADD LIKE LOOK ITS ALL SQUARES AND ITS 16 BIT LIKE WTF FIX MOJANG. That's not the point of this. The point is, the game is poorly made. I realize it takes time to re-write things, but if you are unaware, Dinnerbone has been working on the new grahpics engine for SOME time now. Before they come out with new features, why don't they focus on things like these? And the 90% statistics is obviously over exaggerated. But there is a bug causing bad performance on Intel integrated chips drivers. These are very common in the lower priced laptops. Not everybody has money to buy high performance gaming laptops. The game is poorly coded and Mojang rarely does anything about it, our they take ages to fix. Honestly, if they have the time to add new features just about every week, I think they have the time to fix these irritating issues EDIT: So many defending fan boys... Ah...it is the Minecraft Forums...oh well.

Well, I have a decent computer, and have between 200-480 fps, and my bad laptop is often running at 50 Fps (With optifine that is, I hate the fog).
Also, the lag is something they can't realy fix. Have you tried programming? It is extremely difficult!
I wrote a small platformer in Lua with the LOVE2d engine, however, I had to set the FPS to Max 20 otherwise, players would be able to glitch out of the walls.
And, if they add extra code to fix the lag, it would only lag more, dont you think?
I have to say however, I saw a huge performance drop in the Adventure Update, because, before then, my decent computer could reach 1200 Fps
I would say, deal with it, that's the only thing we can do... and poke Dinnerbone.
Programming is their job. They are also very experienced.
"Oh my god." I assume your not a teenage girl. If MC can run on my mac it should be able to work on other laptops unless it's dell. What am i supposed to pick up from "Lol. Oh my god." Oh my god thats magnificent? Oh my god thats terrible? What?

So using "Oh My God" automatically makes you a teenage girl? And my best guess is that your laptop runs Minecraft well because it is one of the newest laptops on the market. Alot of people are still using old technology and cannot upgrade. And saying it can run on any other laptop is incredibly ignorant. This is completely un-true.
I have to agree on the singleplayer thing.. lags like hell for me. Usually it's multiplayer you should expect more lag from, with singleplayer with none, but it's the reverse with Minecraft. But ehh, minecraft is boring to play by yourself anyway, imo, so I can just stick with multiplayer.
Calling those who appose your opinion a 'fan boy' is rather one sided.
Minecraft is a indie game, and despite the massive amounts of success it has had in recent years, a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Minecraft isn't as well codded as other games, I'll give you that; though it doesn't mean it's Mojang's fault for not pressing the magic fix button.
While Minecraft does need more hardware than it may seem to need (though it justifies it through the way games like that work), it still doesn't need a computer in the gaming tier to run at decent FPS on high settings.

I was thing of posting the ERMAGHERD meme then I couldn't be bothered. You can pretty much get a lot of things in life if you work hard enough. I have heard of countless "rags to richs storys". If someone is willing to put in the hardwork to afford a new laptop they can. I have an old HP laptop that can still run MC. The omg stereotype is a teenage girl. I didn't call you a teenage girl now did I?

Your last bit of text is untrue to my experience, but the rest, I agree. I know it takes time to fix these things, but it should have been fixed long ago.

Where to begin... XD
Well, first, performance isn't everything i'm complaining about here. There are more notable glitches, bugs, and crashes that cannot be avoided on any PC. Also, why should I have to "work hard" for a game to run decently, when it should, when I already worked hard to earn the money to buy the damn thing expecting it would run fine based on their description of required specs? Mind boggling, eh? You can put it any way you want it, but you cannot deny that the game has many un-avoidable glitches and flaws that can ruin the player's fun factor and just kill the experience, after they just hop on the computer waiting to play Minecraft only for the same to happen again.
Mojang are not a group of robots. They can't automatically fix all bugs/glitches, they need to eat, sleep, and live a life. If there's a fatal bug, I trust Mojang to work on a patch to fix that certain bug (1.6.2, 1.6.3, 1.6.4, etc)
I would also like to ask what kind of bugs are you running into other than Minecraft freezing and crashing?
I have 2gb ram and Intel Celeron @ 2.4ghz single core (Getting a core 2 quad and 8gb of ram though ) and an Nvidia Inno3d 256mb graphics card with A duel boot of Ubuntu 13.4 and Linux Mint 11 (out dated but less resource hogging) and with render distance normal graphics fancy and smooth lighting maximum I get 25 - 40 fps and somtimes around 60 on super flat. Try going to Intel's website (or amd ect) and getting the latest drivers as the ones provided by your manufacturer even in updates are often out dated. If this docent help get a lightweight os like Linux Mint or Arch Linux, try a simple ram upgrade, a processor upgrade/ overclock if you can, and possibly a new or external graphics card. Make sure to check if your ram is ddr2 or ddr3 and what socket type your processor is but at the end of the day you can install optifine and find ways around the bugs.
Thanks for the help, but once again, performance is not my problem. There is no way around the game breaking bugs, making them game breaking.

If you read the list of things they add in each snapshot, you'll see a list of bugs they fixed below the list of new things.
I'll ask again, what kind of bugs are you running into?
Internal Server Deaths, Chunks loading and unloads, Sound glitching, suffocating in walls, game will freeze. And they fix little less important bugs that were created from the previous snapshot. They almost never have done anything with the bugs mentioned above.
He should have been more specific.. Those with Intel GPUs can't run the game. The truly sad thing is that the bug has been on the books since July 1st and as of yet no one has been assigned to fix it...

Other than the game freezing, I haven't run into the bugs you mentioned.
I believe in the Invisible Pink Unicorn, bless her Invisible Pinkness.
I have also heard of Cubic Chunks, and I 100% support this idea. Although it is as likely to be in the game as hell freezing over.
