I always sneak when I'm mining. I suppose it was caused by long hours of work in the KDC (Which involved digging traps for unsuspecting players). I also do that leaf thing with trees too xD
i like to leave signs of what just happened in minecraft in case i ever bump back into the area. Like a minecraft journal in game specific to the location when i left it for good.
You should use a book instead. Stop wastin' dat wood!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
My tunnels must be perfect. If I get a little off track destroying blocks to get something like Coal, I fill in the broken areas so my tunnel gets back to perfect.
I always build my houses in odds.. 9 blocks wide, 11, 15, 17, etc.
I place down the things to be inside of my house before even placing walls. Then I build my walls around what I placed.
I cannot have a house only 2 blocks high. Roof must be 3-6 blocks high.
If I see the number 13 anywhere in a stack, I split it up or toss an item.
I meticulously organize my chests by the following order (each list item is a new chest):
Unsmelted ores
Smelted ores
Redstone
Coal and diamonds
Wood blocks
dirt and sand
stone blocks
weapons
armor
tools
potions, brewing
brewing ingredients
food
agriculture
Mob drops
Miscellaneous items
Additionally, I usually play with a lot of mods installed. I separate chests by mod with the same organization as above, when applicable.
i.e. buildcraft has its own chest room, forestry has its own chest room, vanilla has its own chest room, etc
I usually install the "iron chests" mod and use all of my gold to make gold chests since they store two double chests worth of items (possibly more? Maybe 2.5) When I have spare diamonds, I use them to make diamond chests.
My stacks of supplies HAVE to be even, yes I am a perfectionist. Everything has to be symetrical and even, if I have an uneven stack of cobble (say, 51, I will drop one cobble) My house is perfect, even if I make the slightest mistake I have to change it or otherwise I won't be happy.
the exact same thing here and my house has to be symmetrical and I have a problem with not wanting to ruin the scenery so I just stand there like a deep and do nothing
hmmm...every time I play a new world I have to make up a little story for it or I wont enjoy it as much and lose interest, the leaf thing everyone has, and my houses NEVER have corners...thats it.
I constantly mine coal, even tho I have like 20 stacks in one chest o_o. Also, I HAVE TO make signs over my chests that say whats in them, no matter what.

You can now use item frames as a graphical representation of what's in the chest. I personally prefer that over signs. But that's just me.
Pickaxe always goes in the first slot, sword always goes in the second slot. Bucket of water always goes in the 8th slot. Torches go in the 7th slot. Food goes in the last slot. <Always happens to me on every world, sometimes I don't even mean to do it.
when doing 2x1 tunnel mining I always fill in the walls/floor/ceiling with cobble when I mine ores out of them.
If I don't do it right at the start of a game I usually will quite soon look for a village to live in and won't stop until I find one.
I also try to fix villages that have uneven gravel roads (the inclines have to be straight across the road) and add stairs to houses with their doors too high from the ground (being nice to the villagers)
I place all my torches when caving on the right wall to guide my way out (any additional torches for lighting HAVE to be on ground)
I also organize all my chests by various types of materials stored in them with signs labeling them. (although I like the item frame idea)
Cabling has to be at least out of the way if not hidden.
Sometimes I find myself punching not just the top leaves above the logs but ALL of the leaves.
HHmmmmm...
I scream like a girl when I see a creeper 200 feet away, I run up to it, throw my sword at it...and then I proceed to beat it to death with a piece of wool, or a stick.

Sounds pretty much like mine, except the brewing - I don't brew too much. Potions generally go in the "Misc. Items"
Any time i have a partial stack i put it in a hidden chest where i dont have to look at it until i get more materials and make a complete stack for my main storage. I also do the leaf thing i seriously wonder why. Though i think i kind of tune out and dont notice until im done with the tree. I also hate floating trees to the point that i once built a vertical launch cannon to destroy one. I could have built a dirt pillar but those are just as bad.

I too, have a specific order in which I place my items. From left slot to the right slot, it's Sword, Pick, Shovel, Axe (Even if underground), bow, random block, random block, food, the torches.
I also tend to try not to cut down trees that I don't need. I feel terrible destroying the pretty landscapes.
I always label my chests. (Dirt, cobble, iron, coal, etc.)
I am perfect about everything. (I organize chests, make evenly spaced mines.)
I always sprint. I don't know why. (I have an overload of potatoes AND coal...)
I fill in the holes after mining ore. (I dont know why, but if pleases me.)
I ignore redstone and coal alot. (I already have a double chest full of each.)
I leave signs during the beginning of my worlds. (First tree's stump, first creeper hole, etc.)
I begin every item in this list with "I." (I also include a parenthesis segment as well. :P)
I guard all pigs, never hurt them, or never eat pork. (I love pigs that much...)
I never move from my first house ever. (Since May 2012, I have lived in the same house.)
I have staring contests with testificates. (They challenged me in the first place...)
I sometimes log in to my world, run around, and leave. (Like the previous person said.)
I do crazy things for the randomest stuff. (Luring mooshrooms across a 3000 block ocean... Yeah.)
I tend to make all paths in the overworld 3X3, it helps me not get lost IDK why but it seems to help. In the nether I make em 2X2 so gasts don't spawn. P:
You should use a book instead. Stop wastin' dat wood!
So now nothing can be symmetrical, or if it is symmetrical, it must look nice with the rest of the house.
Check out the Fantasy City Build Challenge - it's pretty amazing!

And a few people fill in mining tunnels. Nice to know it isn't just me.

there are probably 5-6 5X5 30-block deep quarries per world

I ran out of ideas. Thank Notch...
