I recently started playing the PC version and it's definitely a lot better than the 360 version but there's a few things I really don't like about it such as the clunky mouse and keyboard controls. Maybe I'm just used to playing it on the console but it feels so much better to be able to use the analog sticks over the mouse anyday.
After a bit of research I downloaded the drivers for the xbox controller however I still need another program that enables me to use it with Minecraft. I've heard people suggest Xpadder although I really don't want to pay for something if I can get a product with the exact same function for free. So are there any Mods or anything like that to fix this problem?
Oh a side note I noticed my Xbox Controller doesn't light up when it's connected through my USB port but when I check the control panel it says it's working properly. Do I need a specific controller designed for the PC or will the ones made for the xbox work?
1. Get over yourself, you thumb jokey. I won't go into all the detailed arguments about control systems, since its been stated countless times. Suffice to say, you'll save yourself a lot of grief if you simply go tri-lingual with the controllers (Classic, KBM and Dual stick).
2. Wireless Xbox controllers need a receiver unit to work. The USB charging cable DOES NOT TRANSMIT DATA. The Wired controllers on the other hand will work without any modifications once the drivers are loaded. If the drivers are working, you should see the P1 ring light up.
3. The game doesn't natively allow controller support. The underlying input methods are actually there, but still need to be codded and mapped to the game functions. That being the case, you have no option but to use a keyboard emulator (and I have yet to see someone make a mod specifically controller support).
Thumb sticks? Fiddle Sticks!
Can't beat the control offered by the mouse and keyboard for first person interaction.
Clunky it is not. As a veritable multitude will attest.

that could really depend on what his mouse/keyboard is
Check out the youtuber Ethoslab. he made a video about it a long time ago. I dont really wanna go look through his videos but he recently mentioned it so im sure its there
As a primarily console gamer I have a great love for the Xbox 360 controller, and I will always defend twin-thumbstick controllers in any debate about "Mouse&keyboard Vs Controller".
... at least when it comes to first person shooters. But Minecraft is a bit different. A lot of what you do in Minecraft is moving items around in your inventory and the crafting screen, and that was such a pain to do in the Xbox 360 version. It's a mouse pointer -- it needs to be moved with a mouse! Other annoyances with the Xbox control:
- Slow turning speed (even cranking up the sensitivity is slower than a mouse)
- Not being able to look around while pressing a face button (for example looking up while jumping or swimming)
- Moments of panic can cause you to click the left thumbstick, which changes the camera to external view and gets you killed.
Xbox360 version is by far above and beyond pc. Any console will always be better because they are designed for gaming...pc's are not inheritently for gaming but wide range of other applications. Arguing is futile. Oh and it's spelled jockey by the way. Just saying.
@SqueakyG FYI....either thumb stick is mousable.
Why sticking to xbox 360 controller since most controllers including ps2 and ps3 only rely on your thumb and my thumb can go red after playing too much
Keyboard+Mouse is the best gaming controller combination out there, believe me or not you will not feel sorry for using your mouse and keyboard.
PS:besides i don't think PC can support xbox controllers

Console gamers don't get tender thumbs Nancy. And if the controllers weren't the greatest piece of gear invented for gaming then you would be using a mouse and keyboard for your console. Arguing is futile.

With all that said, if you can use both to the best of their ability. Mouse/keyboard will win 100% of the time.
But lets look at me and my stats playing BF3 on pc, about a 0.49 ratio.. Now take the top console players, I don't stand a chance.. keep that in mind saying that one is always better then the other.

... proper tool for proper situation...
for hotkey gaming, nothing can beat a keyboard and mouse (this why when you compare console fps to pc fps, you'll notice one of the big differences is weapon/ability variety. )
For aiming, that is more personal preference and is generally mouse vs joystick/analog stick. both having their advantages and disadvantages.
The thing about PCs is that it is more flexible - you say consoles are 'designed for gaming' - oddly enough they are becoming more and more PCs in their own right (they actually are just computers in the end) - especially if you look at a lot of the prototype consoles coming out currently (or even console philosophies such as the "Steam Box" philosophy, that is very similar to the android philosophy, as opposed to console philosophy, which is more similar to the idevice philosophy - distributed technology vs proprietary technology)
I could go into a miniature version of all the papers I wrote on the gaming industry over the years, but simply put - as my first line said "proper tool for the proper situation" is the most important thing to remember when looking for the best tool for your current gaming experience.
A flight-sim is better with a joystick, a racing-sim is better with a wheel, an RTS or Hotkey-based game is going to be better with a keyboard, an fps is going to be better with an accurate aiming device (mouse for absolute aiming vs analog stick for relative aiming). The keyboard offers much smoother use of quick-swaps via keybindings allowing greater variety, where a controller may be more limited, but is generally more ergonomic for 'relaxed' gaming (such as on the sofa).
And the sofa/chair without a desk is why you haven't seen a mouse and keyboard appear for consoles as a standard peripheral (xbox has a controller attachment that is a keyboard, for a reason).
As far as the OP - I'm sorry, but I currently don't know of any such software... though it is very likely out there.

So, any logic I had has just been flown out of a window. "Consoles are better because they are designed for gaming". True at the "designed for gaming", but they're not better. Examples: Consoles aren't as powerful as PCs, because most games can't go above 720p, or else there is so much lag, that the game is virtually unplayable. Yet the PC I have can run games such as Assassin's Creed 3 at 1080p with little to no lag. Saying something is better "because it's designed to" isn't a valid argument if something can run it even better. Back on topic: The joypad mod can allow you to play minecraft with an XBOX controller, as well as split-screening with another person. Look it up, the mod is on this website.

Not really.... I have paid for a gaming pc and get 120 FPs, consoles get around 30. Little diference.
I know some people are going to hate on me, but isn't tormenting illegal in the US unless you have permission from the creator of the torrent itself? Sorry...
Cause if it isn't, I've going to have a LONG night of downloading.
Yes you can play PC MC with Xbox 360 controller, get xpadder, its free and easy to use.I use it, and you can use xpadder with other games too!You assign the Keyboard keys to buttons on the controller that fits the way you play!
K this is funny, everyone has their preferences, I've been playing Xbox since I was 5, that's 11 years ( u do the math, and yes it includes the original Xbox) and I've mostly played only strategy games on my pc, so no matter what I'm gonna be more comfortable with the Xbox controller than a mouse and keyboard, it's not about which one is better, it is about which one ur used to, so all as I am looking for is (as well as the creator of this forum is) is a way to use an Xbox controller on pc for minecraft, not a heated and pointless debate about which is better, cause I use it for skyrim and ac3 on the pc so I no there is a way. Thank you
Now time for some facts to go along with ur opinionated banter:
1. Simply due to the fact that the pc is more customizeable it will always be faster and have better graphics than a console
2. Xbox is more desirable for less intense gamer and therefore I (even though I am an intense gamer) will have more friends on it to play with
3. A keyboard will always have more flexibility to play games on because it has more buttons (obvious enough)
4. Xbox controller will always be easier for te less intense gamer who does not need the flexibility because the less buttons means less confusing

On xbox 360, world sizes are limited, you cannot have mods, you cannot create your own skin, you cannot play on any servers that are not a friends. Oh, and PC's can be upgraded infinitely and can run any game with hundreds of frames per second, unlike a console, which can only run 60. So, you really need to get your facts straight before you make a statement like that!

PC can support controllers that are either wired or have an adapter plugged in via usb.
