Show your support for yogscast, and tell them not to change their format whatsoever because of this. I can already tell yogscast and minecraft fans alike are going to come down on notch pretty hard. I just want to make sure through all this yogscast does not start censor beeping their videos.

They have no reason to bleep out their videos, though. I think Notch is just unsatisfied with their performance on stage. Given that Notch even allowed them up in the first place indicates that notch doesn't care at all what the hell they do in their videos.
I liked the yogscast earlier videos, before it became clear it was a scripted side-show. The mod highlights are still OK. Everything else is rather dismal, though. (Cheating on maps is just disrespectful to the creators of said maps, really).
The videos never really had a "problem" with swearing. Well, none that I noticed.
Honestly, I'm taking Notch's recent behavior as "I'm just going to do whatever I want now", which he has the money and power to do. Although I'm sure he will always be an important idea man re: Minecraft dev, I really get the impression that he wants to do Scrolls stuff, which is fine. After all, Jeb's got the talent (and more than that, the motivation) to carry Minecraft by himself.

As both a programmer and a custom map author, I disagree. I'm 110% positive that having one's work featured in a Yogscast video is a good thing, even if they **** on it. You can't beat the exposure.
Also, the Yogscast started scripting stuff back in their WoW days.
WHERE is the link to his tweet? I am really, really surprised that a discussion has gotten this far without anyone claiming actual SOURCES. Yeah, they did swear a lot during that interview, we know that, but where is the link to the tweet where Notch says he's pissed off at them? For all I know you could all be speculating, 'cause I don't follow his twitter much.
The guys were just nervous and let their mouths run. Besides, I've heard that **** isn't as bad a word in the UK as it is in the US. Any truth to that?
At any rate, as bad as it is to drop F bombs in front of kids, its pretty distasteful for Notch to throw those guys under the bus via twitter, given how much a part of Minecraft they've been over the past year.
This is kind of fun, just to let you know I'm keeping score of all the people who believe the culprit is the yogscast and those that believe it is an undisclosed third party. There will be fabulous prizes later when (and if) the news breaks!
You neglected to mention all the countless other organizations that were involved in creating the total Minecon experience. Event coordinators, etc. It could even be The Minecraft Chick for all we know.
For your second point, you misunderstand Notch's position here, he obviously doesn't care about cursing since he does it all the time, but if someone forced him to take this stance then it would make sense. That someone being an angry parent.
OOOOOOHHHHH Notch is gonna get a beating from the hundreds of thousands who love the yogscast they way they are...
This is the risk everyone takes when they express that they aren't satisfied with what a popular group of people have done. Personally, I think he should have just avoided starting drama at all, but he was willing to take the risk to say that he isn't happy with them.
The true effects to the community really depends on what the Yogcast does next. They have a few cards they can play, as I mentioned. They can go defensive, they can say that they're sorry about the whole incident and that they'll keep their mouths shut on stage, they can just stop playing Minecraft. Each one is a gamble -- each one will have some sort of negative side effect. If they go defensive, they can possibly break off a part of the community. If they just say that they're sorry about the whole incident, people will get mad at themselves for censoring themselves (something I'm fine with, I only find censorship stupid when the censorship is annoying (those annoying tv bleeps) or when the party is censoring themselves despite immense rage that would call for this -- an example of this is on the Wikipedia page of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, where people are holding a sign saying "What the Flock, BP", which indicates to me that they don't fully care about everything -- though this isn't really true)). If they stop playing Minecraft, they kill a part of their userbase. People watch Yogcast for Minecraft and they might get sad if they remove Minecraft videos from their show.
Simon and Lewis need to either ignore this and continue on with their everyday videos, or post a short apology video. If they show any signs of protest, this will turn into a much bigger deal than it needs to be. It doesn't matter who is right and wrong, the Yogscast needs to apologize to the parents and kids of those that attended to avoid any further negativity.
I also think Notch should stop using Twitter as a means of talking about personal matters. The fact that he allowed this to get out to the public is astonishing. Confront the two in person or over the phone - don't start a war over Twitter.

I never said it was necessarily bad for the mod or map.
I know I'm new but I'm kinda annoyed that everyone is assuming that it was simon and lewis. First off it would be notch's fault if it was them especially since they are the number one subscribed minecraft channel and known to curse in their vids. Second 99% parents don't have a problem if its in a vid that's their norm for the act (exception is the crazy overbearing parents which is most unlikely cause honestly do you think they would be there). Also I'm under the impression that notch and the yogcast are good friends or at least acquaintances. I my be wrong but if I am I loose respect for notch and I hope not. It would be his fault though for not setting some form of regulation or have more age restricted sections with screenings to decide who goes where. My thought its someone obvious but we won't know til its disclosed or we may never know. Sorry for the long rant just wanted to get my thoughts out and hope everyone quits speculating in hopes that someones rep is not destroyed wrongfully.
You know, that is exactly the reason you need to provide sources. If you're discussing with someone, wanting to prove them wrong but lacking in sources to actually back up your statements, you're not gonna prove that person wrong because all you're saying might very well be speculation and gibberish from your side. And no, that person is not gonna be wanting to find those sources by himself.
Notch just said "Yes, Yogscast" on twitter.

I love the way Lewis says 'Las Vegas.'

Still wrong.
See his last tweet? You're wrong.
